Trumps new administration are set to review US involvement in international treaties and agreements and could cut United Nations (UN) funding by 40 per cent putting aid and peacekeeping operations across the world in jeopardy.
Speaking on Newsnight, New York Times analyst Max Fisher said the White House is mulling over two executive orders which would see a massive reduction in US involvement with international partners on a range of issues.
The order would mandate a 40 per cent cut in all US funding towards the United Nations, any UN agency, or any other international organisation which would amount to billions of dollars Max Fisher He said: There are two executive orders that are in draft form that are circulating the White House now that they are currently planning to sign by the end of the week.
The first one would review a huge subset of multilateral treaties that the United States is currently engaged in - its not really clear which of those treaties they have in mind but it looks like it opens up climate agreements and environmental agreements to be abrogated.
The second, and in some ways bigger one, is reviewing funding for the United Nations and this draft executive order, if signed, would do two things.
First, it would terminate any US funding for any UN agency that needs a subset of conditions [including] any support for abortion programs; there are a few rules that are very vague - if it includes help for countries that opposed the United States then they would cut funding [although] no one really knows what that means.
He continued: But once theyve done that, then the order would mandate a 40 per cent cut in all US funding towards the United Nations, any UN agency, or any other international organisation which would amount to billions of dollars.
President Trump's Key Moments Wed, January 25, 2017 Our pick of the top key moments so far for the 45th President of the United States, Donald J. Trump.

With the US involved in UN peacekeeping operations in 16 countries worldwide, including Cyprus, Lebanon and Mali.
Mr Fisher believes the US could significantly reduce its contribution to the UNBBC Mr Fisher believes the US could significantly reduce its contribution to the UN Mr Fisher believes these places arent really in a great position to have UN peacekeepers leave suddenly because the United States no longer wishes to be part of the United Nations fully.
The United States funds 27 per cent of UN peacekeeping operations, a lot of aid to refugees - these are programs that are already stretched extremely thin.
In terms of climate change, the Fisher believes the Paris Climate Agreement would be in the crosshairs following Trumps scepticism during his election campaign.
Fisher added: Its not unreasonable to expect him to use this as a mechanism to withdraw from it.
He’s going to wear his office staff out .... they’re probably sleeping at their desks, assuming Trump is sleeping at all! Trump is definitely sucking all the 02 out of the ‘room’ - haven’t heard a whimper about Obama from the Obamabot suckup media since he left DC.
We shouldn't be single handedly funding world peace keeping.
How ironic that they don't want US involvement unless it translates into us giving them money.
Lazamataz
Get on Laz’s ping list.
I love that picture.
Unraveling foreign entanglements. Amen!
Veto what. All u.n. resolutions should be null and void and have no bearing on what occurs in the U.S. World heritage sites within the U.S. would revert to control by the U.S. with no input from the u.n.desirables. LOL!
You have to wonder and take utter and complete joy in the fact that heads are exploding all over this planet. These politicians, the world over, think/thought, that is was gonna be just another day. Now, Trumps coming in like the damned Terminator and just handling business like a boss.
What is expected from a businessman that demands results and some bulls*t answer to every question. When Tillerson gets in their and gets to work with Mattis and the rest, HOLY F*CKING SH*T, this is gonna be exciting. From Tillerson, St Mattis, Kelly and Sessions. this country and the rest of the world have no idea what they’re in for.
It’s another ‘win’. I’m not tired of winning yet... but I can see where we could get use to this...
If we can hold this country together long enough, one of the Navy’s largest new railgun systems should get named...
the Trump Cannon.
I love the metaphor since so many snowflakes have been raised in a fatherless environment.
The left has sponsored this family breakdown via:
Social programs
Welfare benefits
Job killing regulation
The Educational Indoctrination System
The Divorce Industry (”family court, CPS, draconiam Child Support collection)
Feminazism (VAWA, double standard for women, aka giving females 100% authority and 0% accountibility)
Misandry and the chickification of men via the Psychiatric Industry
Since the mid eighties, most children have never heard the word “no,” have not been taught decency, respect for elders/authority figures, morals nor manners. They have been inculcated with misandry and narcissism.
Mom is the “authority” figure, a role that most women cannot take on due to the inherent nurturing role. A poor and weak substitute for biological Dad.
POTUS has to be careful until all of his cabinet & SC choices are in place. I’m sure we will see big changes.
Seeing a politician actually keep promises is amazing.
Laz, please put me on your list. Thanks
Yes because the world is our responsibility, while they spit in our face.
Where was our help from other countries after Katrina? Where was our help after the oil spill in the Gulf? Oh that’s right. We were still sending billions of dollars in foreign aid to other countries. F the UN and the rest of these ungrateful bastard countries.
Winning is exhausting. :-)
BOOM!
I wish people on whichever side of this issue would stop calling this "withdrawl". Ebola can sign whatever he wants, the Constitution says Congress has to approve stuff. Since that was never done, there is no "withdraw". More like Trump saying "this administration is no longer seeking to join this".
ok, I can’t keep up.....we need a new site or something that attempts to keep track of all the winning.
Like a OneStopAllTheWinning.com or something.
It is mind boggling. I had even forgot some of the stuff we were fighting for and now WE DONE WON IT.
Really though.....the phrase rolling back, needs to be changed to Trumping Back ....the Alt Regressive Left Agenda.
Poor odumbi be like......”damn white dude jacked up shit it took me 8 fkn long assed years to do....IN ONE DAMN MONTH!
