President Donald Trump said Sunday he will begin renegotiating the North American Free Trade Agreement when he meets with the leaders of Canada and Mexico. A central promise of Trump's campaign was that he would revamp the 23-year-old trade pact. At a White House event Sunday, Trump said he had scheduled meetings with Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and Mexican President Enrique Peña Nieto.

"We're going to start some negotiations having to do with NAFTA," Trump said. "Anybody ever hear of NAFTA?" he said. "I ran a campaign somewhat based on NAFTA. But we're going to start renegotiating on NAFTA, on immigration, on security at the border."

Convincing Canada and Mexico to renegotiate NAFTA -- or convincing Congress, where majority Republicans have long supported free trade, not to try to block him from withdrawing from the deal

I hope that they change the rule so that Countries other than Canadian American and Mexican cannot import from a NAFTA country duty free. China has been opening factories in Mexico for the duty free status.

I think it will take the U.S. voiding the treaty and a trade war before a new agreement can be negotiated. Everyone will expect the other side to blink first.

Can we get some pics of the Mexican negotiators entering the room where Trump and his negotiators, who've helped loot the American treasure, are waiting?

So, trash the economy? Why would anyone even consider reopening the agreement? He has nothing to give them in exchange.

After 23 years and changes in all the countries’ governments, it needs renegotiating. It shouldn’t be punitive to anybody but each country has got to get what it needs out if it.

NAFTA? Close the border to all northbound traffic from Mexico. Close remittances to the south unless from US citizens or legal residents and only then if the funds are properly documented (e.g., income declared, taxes paid).
