"I would think that somebody shot in the abdomen with critical wounds would still have been there. I might be wrong though."
I think he's still there, but hidden behind the crowd somewhere. In the video that I saw, right after the "pop" it sounds like someone is saying "Brendan's down."

If this is true, the Sessions Justice Dept should investigate. On what grounds? Washington state stand-your-ground laws do not require to to retreat before using deadly force to defend yourself. If the shooter felt threatened then he was within his rights to fire first.

"I did not know the University of Washington had its own Police force."
I think most major campuses have their own police.

It’s the new BLM mantra, shoot a white person and claim that they are White supremacist. It’s like South Park’s ‘some Puerto Ricain guy’ joke.

I see that you’ve interpreted the Seattle Times article the misleading way the writers intended —— which is at variance with reality.

What if he felt “threatened” merely because the guy was espousing conservative talking points?

On the evening of Friday, January 20th, a comrade of ours was shot in the stomach in the most public place on the University of Washingtons campus in Seattle a place called Red Square for the color of its bricks rather than its politics.
This Fellow Worker (what members of the IWW call ourselves) and Defender (for GDC members) is a longtime anti-fascist and dedicated activist, a member of the Industrial Workers of the World (IWW) and the General Defense Committee of the IWW. Hes currently in critical condition at Harborview Hospital in Seattle. They have a Level One Trauma center, so its likely he is receiving the best quality care available, for which we are deeply grateful.

That looks different from the video I saw, but it doesn't change my view of what happened: The guy in the yellow hat seemed to be moving to assist someone else who was being attacked. He was intercepted, and was himself attacked. He tried to move away to the right, but the crowd was too thick, so he turned around and tried to find another way out. He was then surrounded and attacked again, pulled out his gun, and fired.
I think this video provides a little better self-defense argument than the video I first saw. You see the crowd closing in on him, and he could justifiably have feared for his safety and even his life.

Is the IWW an actual union, or just a group of left-wing agitators?
To: Steve_Seattle
Please explain the difference.

They’ve been around for awhile.
They never amounted to much except in the lumber camps of the NW.
More pie in the sky stuff.
Definitely socialist.
They were called “Wobblies”.

What if he felt threatened merely because the guy was espousing conservative talking points? If he can make the case that he feared for his safety because of it then the law should protect him. People have made the claim of fearing for their life on a lot less.
To: JayGalt
Good find! Translation: The guy shot was a professional commie agitator and in all likelihood, the shooter did indeed feel his life was in danger...........
To: Steve_Seattle
Looks like they are professional rabble-rousers.

The IWW is a member-run union for all workers, a union dedicated to organizing on the job, in our industries and in our communities. IWW members are organizing to win better conditions today and build a world with economic democracy tomorrow. We want our workplaces run for the benefit of workers and communities rather than for a handful of bosses and executives.
The IWW’s Stance on Ecology - Between these two classes a struggle must go on until the workers of the world organize as a class, take possession of the means of production, abolish the wage system, and live in harmony with the Earth.

"People have made the claim of fearing for their life on a lot less."
Based on the videos I've seen, the shooter had already witnessed one or more people being attacked and beaten, he himself appears to have been punched and roughed-up, he appeared to try to retreat, and just before the shooting he was again surrounded by a mob of young men, many of them wearing masks, and jostled or punched again. It's a pretty good self-defense scenario, in my opinion.

"abolish the wage system"
Any system they can come up with will be a wage system, no matter how they try to mask it or what they want to call it. You do work, and you receive compensation from someone, and someone decides what constitutes fair compensation.
What do they think will happen? Someone will do some work and money will fall from the sky?
