That’s an excuse! They don’t have the votes to not confirm him! This Schtick about oh he is just saying what he needs to say to get confirmed is total bunk! They can’t stop any of the confirmations. You either stand on principle and say no it’s total falsehood or you continue the path of jelly fish spine RINOS. Thus far we’ve gotten nowhere on weeding out the jellyfish, we nominate them for cabinet appointments

I understand what you are saying but nowadays its such an easy thing to say, just smooth things along and keep things moving smoothly. If I believed for a second that such a ritual kow tow is in anyway binding I would be as angry as you. But I don’t believe that. I believe that it is 100% meaningless and just an easy way to smooth the feathers of the 47% of the lunatics in America.

Excellent analysis.

That is exactly what is going on. If he actually believed that he would not have been nominated.

Trump is his boss. He can believe in the tooth fairy as long as he remembers that.

Here’s one man’s opinion on why they force people to regurgitate BS. Makes sense to me.

“In my study of communist societies, I came to the conclusion that the purpose of communist propaganda was not to persuade or convince, not to inform, but to humiliate; and therefore, the less it corresponded to reality the better.

When people are forced to remain silent when they are being told the most obvious lies,

or even worse when they are forced to repeat the lies themselves,

they lose once and for all their sense of probity. To assent to obvious lies is in some small way to become evil oneself. One’s standing to resist anything is thus eroded, and even destroyed. A society of emasculated liars is easy to control. I think if you examine political correctness, it has the same effect and is intended to.”

Theodore Dalrymple

Here’s another Rick Perry funny from the hearing. Perry said that he believes in AGW.

I agree with Theodore Dalrymple, but let me ask you, do you really think that the Trump administration is going to “remain silent”.

F* no!

This is just pro-forma BS to smooth past the hearings.

Then they get to run the country!!!!

Yay!!!!!!

You must have missed the part about forced to repeat the lies? That was the money shot. This is a new, or expansion of, a kind of "litmus test" questioning and it does not ever bode well. "I appreciate all the hard work that the men and women at DOE blah blah blah... " That ain't good either. Not from a guy who just a few months ago claimed he wanted to shut the whole agency down.

Whatever the hell it does, the Constitution doesn’t authorize the feds to do it.

Yes except Carter isn’t the standard for federal illegality - the Constitution is. We need to get the Constitution back as the Supreme Law of the Land against the feds.

Franken is an embarrassment.

He’s up in 2020, when hopefully President Trump will be carrying MN. We need to take him down. It’s sad we gave him only a weak challenge in 2014.

I understand what you’re saying but I’m not worried about it. If it was a President Bush, I’d be worried. But Trump is not Bush, is he?

Before we get to Franken in 2020, we have two big elections in MN in 2018 (well, four, if we include AG and Secretary of State). Senator Amy Klobuchar is up for reelection, and this could be our last chance at beating her before she runs for president. And the gubernatorial election is huge as well, since even if we hold both houses of the MN legislature a Democrat governor could veto a GOP-approved redustricting plan. (MN will lose a U.S. House seat at the 2020 Census, so redistricting will see major changes, and a 5R, 2D congressional map is eminently achievable if we control both houses of the state legislature and the governorship.)

So who will be our candidates for the U.S. Senate and governorship in 2018? Congressman Erik Paulsen would be ideal for either race, but he’s shied away from statewide races before (he would have beaten Frankin in 2014 had he run), and taking on Klobuchar would be riskier than running against Franken in 2014 would have been. Could he be prodded to run?

And what about a Pawlenty comeback? He’s definitely young enough, and a return to the governorship could be attractive.

Any other good candidates? We need our A team for those two races (and B.A. and Face are not available).

Sadly we don’t have much of a bench in MN, NO statewide offices. Ugh. We need people for those lower offices too,

Has T-Paw expressed any interest in a comeback? T-Paw was running for the Senate in 2002 when Cheney convinced him and Coleman to switch races, maybe he’d be more interested in a Senate bid?

I’m not optimistic about Klobuchar but we gots to get that Governorship.

Rat Rep. Nolan might run for Governor, helping us win his seat. But I believe under their convention system he could lose the rat endorsement and withdraw and still run for reelection the House.

Article on potential candidates

https://www.mprnews.org/story/2016/11/21/minnesota-governor-election-2018

Mentions the State House Speaker Kurt Daudt.

And apparently the Sheriff of Hennepin County is a Republican somehow, Rich Stanek.
