Outgoing CIA Director John Brennan had some sharp criticism and warnings Sunday for Donald Trump, saying the incoming president doesn’t have a “full understanding” of Russia’s power and threat to the world.
“I don’t think he has a full understanding of Russian capabilities and the actions they are taking on the world,” Brennan told “Fox News Sunday.”
He also suggested that Trump lacks “full appreciation” of Russia’s aggression or about why President Obama imposed sanctions on the Kremlin for meddling in the 2016 presidential election.
“Mr. Trump has to understand that absolving Russia is a road that he needs to be very, very careful about moving down,” Brennan said.
Brennan was appointed by President Obama in 2013 to run the country’s premier spy agency.
Trump has repeatedly suggested better U.S. ties with Russian President Vladimir Putin. And he has been particularly suspect of the entire U.S. intelligence community since it concluded Russia and Putin tried to influence the elections, in an apparent effort to help Trump defeat Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton.
Brennan said Trump likening the U.S. intelligence community to Nazi German for presumably leaking the content of an opposition-research dossier on him is “outrageous.”
"There is no interest in undermining the president elect,” he said. “Our responsibility is to understand dangers on the world stage so (Trump and his Republican administration) have the intel we have so they can make best decision.”
However, he said Trump “needs to be disciplined” and that he’ll face numerous challenges” in his presidency that begins Friday -- with terrorism, cybersecurity, North Korea and Middle East instability among those at the top.
“So many issues on Day One,” Brennan said.

Pompeo’s confirmation does not seem to be in doubt, that we know of. It’s just about the timing and Brennan’s henchmen who have been left in place.
Exactly. If Brennan thinks Trump is uninformed it is his duty to inform the president of things that may have been missed.
And isn't Brennan part of the team that does the intelligence briefings that Trump attends?

There is a real adult discussion that should be occurring. There are more levels of classifying nations besides just friend or threat. It's not black and white when each nation has its own interests. Russia could be a threat. It is certainly a competitor. There is a difference. But Brennan wants to jump straight to the 'threat' level.
He is compromised.
I would prefer that the head of the CIA to rarely make public appearances and stay out of the limelight. This one has been on my Shiite list since 911. He should have been fired a long time ago and he one of those so called security consults begging for some corporation to pay him for BS.

Yeah, that makes sense but who would he pick as an interim? Ive been looking but haven’t been able to find a Senate schedule for when any of the nominees will be voted upon.
Morning Joe last week was chuckling with David Ignatius about how Trump had better be careful because our thugs... oops I mean 'intelligence services' could 'leak' against him. It was expressed as a threat - no different than the older businesses on a block laughing about the new shopkeeper NOT knowing he had to pay protection money to the mob.
It was disgusting.
Any 'intelligence' person threatening an American citizen with 'leaks' should lose their joy and be arrested.
America is NOT a Police State. Period.
I watched the interview on FOX with Chris Wallace and I thought, "I sure hope Wallace never did anything kinky with his wife that the goon could use against him.'
That's NOT how an American citizens should feel about the people who are suppose to protect us.
