It wasn’t enough. The officers placed him in handcuffs in the driveway of a church, two blocks from the police station in Evanston, Ill.

More like overreacting and inept. Needless to say when the settlement with Evanston is done it's safe to say that Mr. Crosby won't have to worry about his student loans.
when I got out of the service I had a 400 dollar 65 Fairlane that had a crack in the windshield and my left headlight pointed straight up in the air ( lookin for planes ?).
I got pulled over a lot - they always had a report of shot’s fired. I would always ask them why them pulled me over (i was usually in my field jacket and jungle boots). They would just chuckle and ask be to open the trunk.
They’d find my gold clubs, softball stuff, a football and basketball and related spikes, etc...never got a ticket.
I loved that car, but it had to go.
I don’t know how it is in IL, but in my state and those adjoining, the cop pulls you over and then he runs your plate before he gets out of his car.
At that point, he knows who the car belongs to and in my state whether you have a carry permit.
The cops in this story acted like nut cases.
All they had to do was ask for his license and registration and in less than 5 minutes everyone would have been on their way.
I believe in law and order but there are bully cops and they should not be tolerated.
The fact that some woman called saying she believed a car theft was in progress is not an excuse. How many false alarms do you think the ordinary street cop gets in a week’s time?
I’m not defending the police either.
When you shout contradictory orders any damage you inflict for noncompliance needs to be treated under the law as premeditated and intentional. When that results in a death accidental death and manslaughter need to be automatically off the table when the evidence surfaces.

I’ve also found that flailing your arms around wildly, and reaching into your pockets repeatedly helps a lot too
Young, black college student... possible SJW, making it look like he is trying to steal a car?? The way he popped out of the car..the lack of emotion. He had a look on his face as if he was expecting and knew what was coming.
The cops were a bit excessive and confusing at first, but they quickly mellowed once the situation was in hand.
Probably as it seems.. but these days it wouldn’t surprise me if the SJW’s did stuff like this for their 15 minutes and the attention.
I doubt that this was a set up. One of the things my (black) neighbor, who drives a very nice car, told me was that his elderly uncle was horrified the first time he saw the car, because he said that the cops were going to think that my neighbor had stolen it. The uncle is elderly and grew up in a different time, my neighbor is well-off and can certainly afford his car and looks it, so we laughed about it. But I can definitely see where this fear was coming from.
If the cops shout contradictory orders and then injure the SJW for not complying with both sets of orders then they proved a premeditated intent to harm the SJW and they have betrayed their fellow officers by giving legitimate ammunition to the SJW twerps, instead of the SJW crowd having to rely on hoaxes.
I am not sure where you are trying to go with that nonsense, but it doesn’t lead to either a civil society or the preservation of our freedoms.
I am pro-LEO, and with WaPo, we don’t know the whole story, but sometimes cops DO overreact. And, in a VERY FEW cases, there are bad cops. Which is a shame, because it gives liberals fuel to torch all law enforcement, by association. But most cops are good, and want to keep us safe. But cops are so burned out, many of them are in need of a break. They really are in combat situations. Battle fatigue, despite what General Patton believed, is a real thing. Unfortunately, since assassinating them seems to be a new vogue, they’re short-handed, and understandably on edge. It seems that if they did their shifts like firemen do -— 24 hours on, then 48 hours off, they would be able to cope better. And this trend of just one cop per car, has proven a really bad idea. (In order to save money, cities stopped using the old system of two cops to a car. They tried to dress it up, by insisting the community would have more coverage, because each cop would have his own car, so there would be more cop cars, to be spread out, giving the community a bigger police presence, without having to hire more cops). It’s always about money, isn’t it? Young cops don’t know the difference, but ask any soldier -— “do you want to go it alone, or do you want a buddy?” And cops have to deal with the worst of the dregs of society, all the while knowing that if people would just raise their kids right, a lot of grief could be spared. But no, they just have to deal with the end result of society’s mistakes. I really feel for them. As a former hospital nurse, after a while, you can get angry when seeing people who have ruined their lives with drugs and alcohol, then keep coming to you to patch them up. You have to work hard at keeping a compassionate heart. Hopefully, our new DOJ will set up a task force to find ways to help cops have not only better working conditions, but better support systems. Their union should be invested in helping those needs.
Having said all that, I think it was Chris Rock who made that video, “Don’t be stupid”, about always always always COOPERATE with the police. Don’t cop an attitude, etc.

I agree. But as I said in my other post, cops are burned out. If we fix THAT, we won’t have so many overreacting.
I think they’re darned tired of being denigrated from the White House. This has helped influence an anything goes attitude by lawless Blacks. (and others too)
As for being burnt out, that would depend on each department across the nation. I address it this way, because when I think of burnt out, I think of too many hours worked.

Or, they could have reacted differently. It doesn’t matter, what she said, unless she lost her head. She may even have said something like, “I don’t know where the driver is! He may have been knocked out!” People do, sometimes, in their panic, ad lib. Nonetheless, and especially with multiple officers present, it seems like a short conversation, a look at the driver’s license, and a tag check, could have resulted in a very different outcome. Hindsight is 20/20. And cops need better emotional support. A well-adjusted cop, like any other person, is going to have better outcomes.
My son, lived smack dab in the middle of Chicago for 15 years, parked his car on the street, and except for one time someone broke one of the windows, never had a problem. Then his friends talked him into moving to Evanston, to a nicer building, by the lake. First rattle out of the box, his car was stolen. Evanston, like most Chicago suburbs, used to be a really nice town. It’s a shame, and I really hate to see our society crumbling.
Agree with others, sounds like a SET UP. He likely didn’t do as told and threatened the police in other ways too. Cops have better things to do than just beat up on a cooperative person...just for fun.
Thank you for the clarification. Let us ask too, how many lies WaPo has peddled to the public—these too, these lies, are crimes in their own right and it’s called libel.
This tape could have been interpreted a few ways. Therefore no one can get a solid idea what happened. So let’s play one of two games, either there is a limited police brutality as the individual was not harmed and required no reported medical assistance, or it was incorrectly reported from the post using Post Nation which is a Muslim hit rag from Canada that was banned from their Atlantic coast provinces.
The individual did right by stepping out of the car and taking a couple of steps toward the cops. But when they asked him to drop, he started walking behind the open driver side door which could easily be defined as attempting escape or not following the orders from the cops by just going straight down. I did not see the cops knee him and I couldn’t tell what the cop on the left was striking as it could have been the individuals holding of clothing or an arm of a cop which is what could have been determined to be not cooperating also.
This piece has a real chance of being falsely reported video to try to point out police infractions. From my eye, it was misreported enough to put it in question.

That's what I'm wondering too. Put on a hoodie, take a bar and act like you're breaking into your car, then when you get arrested, put on a good show. You may get roughed up a bit, but when you get out and lawyer up, baby, it's PAYOUT time! Like with Clock Boy.
Wow. kind of a low bar don't you think? How is one to know what the police in question 'prefer'? Pretty lame excuse for their behavior IMO. They should treat those they interact with with respect until there is a reason not to.
