Host Jake Tapper pointed out that Mr. Trump, during the campaign, promised a deportation force to round up the more than 11 million immigrants in the country illegally. Ryan dismissed that idea.
Im here to tell you in Congress, its not happening.
Instead, Ryan said Mr. Trump has asked lawmakers to focus on two priorities with respect to illegal immigration: securing the border and deporting immigrants who are violent, repeat criminals.
House GOP lawmakers and aides have also said recently theyre working on how to pay for border security to make good on Mr. Trumps promise of building a wall on the border with Mexico, although at least initially taxpayers would foot the bill - not Mexico, as Mr. Trump promised.

Paul Ryan: RAT Romney’s butt kisser...
You may think the Speaker of the House is irrelevant, but he wields an awful lot of power.
He wants an amnesty of some sort for most of the illegal aliens.
Make no mistake about it.
The globalists may want to paint that picture but, regardless of anything Trump has said, I don’t get the impression that he would do anything like that.
Paul Ryan fights harder for illegal aliens than he does for military veterans.
Trump himself says criminal illegals first. Then pause and reflect.
wow. that is industrial strength dumb. for everyone’s but mostly his own good, he should just wire his mouth shut.
Round up the criminals and get them out of here.
Then enforce laws already on the books, like e-Verify, and you’ll start to see a lot of the others start heading home.
I’ve always said that we should give each individual $10K and each family $50K and a new Suburban if they voluntarily go.
With their bastard kids born here or not.
BINGO!!! You win the internet today!
We do? How? Seems to me we haven't tried, because everyone always says it can't be done.
Scouts Out! Cavalry Ho!
We must not be satisfied with just deporting those caught and convicted.
Ryan is even suggesting deporting only violent criminals, not all criminals.
EVERY illegal alien MUST commit crimes to remain in the USA illegally.
Just because they have not killed anyone YET is no reason to wait until they do before deporting them.
It makes sense to start with the criminals.
We should not pause.
Mass...like in a cancerous mass? Yes, well a few million a month will help.
You have 2 years. If not, we will stay home.
BUILD THE WALL.
Bump!Ryan is there to give the liberal media faint hope that there is dissension among Congressional Republicans and Trump. Pretty soon, you're going to hear stories of how Republicans are "distancing" themselves from Trump, and may even appear on the news shows screaming that Trump is going "too far."
But behind the scenes, is a well-oiled piece of machinery.
Trump already has a replacement bill for Obamacare lined up, I also predict he has at least a half-dozen other bills ready as well, in addition to nuking all of Obama's EOs.
Forget the 100 days. Trump is going to achieve his objectives in 100 hours.
"I swear to protect your legacy, My Caliph,
as you, I, and my Bishop, destroy Trump --- behind his back."
Ryan may be right...THEY WON’T BE NEEDED. Most will leave once Trump cuts off Sanctuary City and other goodies, and then employment. They will the US a VERY BORING PLACE to stay in.
Only a relative handful of Illegals will need a push out the door - starting with the criminals.
Trump himself says criminal illegals first. Then pause and reflect.<<<
That, he did!
You can’t do too much change all at once or things go haywire. It’s a matter of history. Trump has massive changes going on in many areas. Some of it needs to be gradual and build up to make a sturdy foundation for more.
He’s securing the border which is a good thing. Getting rid of violent criminals is also a good thing. That, in and of itself is a YUGE deal!
There are a lot of people here who aren’t citizens, who were brought here through no fault or choice of their own either in their mother’s wombs, or as infants and children. They don’t know any other way of life but the one they’ve had here. Culturally, they aren’t even true ...........whatever their original heritage was..fill in the blank. Not all illegal immigrants are Mexican. Some aren’t fully American in culture either. They don’t fit either place, and that’s NOT an easy place to be. But THEIR children will be as American as any American. You can’t just boot these people out without regard for their very lives. It’s not even humane to suggest it.
To expect them to work or make their own business is reasonable, the same as any other American.
To require them to get citizenship and pay taxes...yes, absolutely. But if they’re from a country who wishes us harm, and have come in as a silent, invading army..get them out. Send them home along with the wives and children they brought with them. Especially if we are at war with that nation. That’s constitutional.
They don’t have to be ‘rounded up’ all at once. How many times have we seen over the past decade hundreds - even thousands - of them in one place protesting or demanding their ‘rights’? Quite a few as I remember it.
The illegals offer up many a rich target environment.
For the other several million, execute the plan others on FR have suggested, namely, e-verify, punishing employers who hire illegals, cut off freebies to illegals, cut the anchor baby nonsense.
Most of the problem gone. And the wall coupled with sophisticated surveillance and military on the border will do the rest.
>>>”You don’t have to deport them, silly.
Just stop giving them free stuff and fine employers who hire them.
They’ll know what to do.”<<<
Same CORE principles (minus ‘find employers who hire them’) can be said, in theory & practice, for “moderate rebels” in Syria, Saudi, Turkish, and Iranian mullahs regimes, Qatar, other Gulf states, and all those who continue to use, and have used USA’s financial support, military personnel, weapons, and economic/trade deals, to further their diabolical agendas.
Whether Trump administration will stop all the above will very much remain to be seen.
You don’t have to deport them. All you need to do is cut off benefits and make it so painful to break labor laws by hiring one that it is inconceivable to do so. It can be done. It must be done.
