CNN)CNN's decision to publish carefully sourced reporting about the operations of our government is vastly different than Buzzfeed's decision to publish unsubstantiated memos.
The Trump team knows this. They are using Buzzfeed's decision to deflect from CNN's reporting, which has been matched by the other major news organizations. We are fully confident in our reporting.
It represents the core of what the First Amendment protects, informing the people of the inner workings of their government; in this case, briefing materials prepared for President Obama and President-elect Trump last week.
We made it clear that we were not publishing any of the details of the 35-page document because we have not corroborated the report's allegations.
Given that members of the Trump transition team have so vocally criticized our reporting, we encourage them to identify, specifically, what they believe to be inaccurate.

While they did not tell any details, they actually made it sound like there was some horrible damaging stuff in there. The also said that their intelligence sources were indicating that the former MI6 agent was considered a credible source.
My opinion is that their report was actually worse than what Buzzfeed did, because they tried to make it appear that there was credible, damaging information, and they simply couldn't report the details until the IC had time to verify it.
They are being disingenuous like a lawyer. Careful statements designed to smear without a specific misstatement - reminds me of the definition of "is"
They have yet to reveal the 4Chann connection which punked them all.
Hannity played those CNN clips on his show tonight. You are right, they made the story sound more damaging than it really was.
My opinion also is that CNN was attempting to use this crap in a more that was damaging way than Buzzfeed. Trump should lock them out of every news conference until they knock this crap off.

THey were ALL punked by some juvenile delinquents on 4chan who made up a ridiculous story that fed into what the media and some intelligence people wanted to hear, so they ran with it. It matters not whether CNN did anything to confirm it or not, it’s fake and they were trolled.

Clapper issued a statement tonight specifically denying that the circulated report was an IC product and he also wrote that the IC could not verify the accuracy of its content.
CNN also reported that Trump lawyer Michael Cohen met with Russian officials in Prague. The problem is that Cohen says he has never traveled to the Czech Republic and that he was with his son at USC at the time of the alleged meeting. So much for CNN vetting its reporting.

Irregardless, everything the establishment has been doing borders on out right sedition. The change in power is always a dangerous time, and to have such disarray could have really emboldened our enemies. Fortunately, DJT has not been weak in his responses, so I think that helps to give our enemies pause.
