THey were ALL punked by some juvenile delinquents on 4chan who made up a ridiculous story that fed into what the media and some intelligence people wanted to hear, so they ran with it. It matters not whether CNN did anything to confirm it or not, it’s fake and they were trolled.

I don’t think people in media or the office of transition know that it was created by 4chan.
