NEW YORK -- Donald Trump can’t be sued for defamation by a political strategist who said her reputation was trashed after then-candidate Trump called her a “dummy” on Twitter during last year’s presidential campaign, according to a judge’s decision made public Tuesday.
Manhattan state Supreme Court Judge Barbara Jaffe ruled that though Mr. Trump’s tweets about public relations strategist and Republican consultant Cheryl Jacobus were “rife with vague and simplistic insults,” they were expressions of opinion protected by the First Amendment.

She (or her lawyer) was probably thinking Donald Trump with his wealth would just settle out of court, throw $100,000 her way and be done with it (as many wealthy people do). They didn’t realize that’s not how Donald Trump plays ball, he’ll gladly spend $1 million in legal fees to make sure you don’t win $10,000....

Should have gone to trial. Can you imagine the discovery process? Having her subpeonad to participate in professional evaluations of her competency. Deep examination of the label ‘dummy’ - is it being a little stupid, generally foolish, or ‘hold muh beer’ full tilt retard? Lots of legal fees, could have been awesome.

That would be a hell of a judgement:
“Plaintiff cannot prevail because in slander and liberal cases truth is an absolute defense and Plaintiff is, indeed, a dummy.”
So this Cheryl Jacobus sued over being called a dummy on Twitter? Not only does she deserve to lose, but she should be forced to pay Trump’s legal fees too. This is beyond ridiculous.
