McCain actually started out as a solid conservative but the wheels came off when he was fingered in the Keating Five Scandal. Most people forget that McCain was the lone Republican punished along with four Democrats (I'm sure this was done to make the scandal look bi-partisan) so McCain has had an axe to grind against his own party ever since.
Then when he decided to run against the GWB coronation in 2000 (the 2000 version of Bernie Sanders), he truly went off the deep end and became Bush's chief critic on CNN every night. I believe a deal was struck to shut him up for the 2004 re-election campaign if he was promised the nomination in 2008.
For this incident, I hope McConnell and others choose to lock him out of any GOP senate conferences. If he's going to behave like a mole, he should pay a price for it.

One thing is certain: All those "fake polls" touting hillary's lead may be what kept the dems from using this. They thought they were sufficiently ahead - to the point of believing they were taking Texas - that they decided not to get their hands dirty for once.

McMullin was on Fox saying he had been talking to some of his CIA buddies who told him Trump might be being blackmailed. I can dig the link out if you need to see it... He was still in the race at that point - leading Hillary in Utah, and 2 pts behind Trump. It would make sense that he is deeply involved... it may have been his plan B after he was forced out of primaries.

Okay, I have taken several deep breaths :) I am not getting you, though. I know the 4chan involvement, but what are you saying, it was all 4chan, nothing more. that Steele et al were never involved at all?

Yeah, there seems to be two different stories: 1. This was all 4Chann. 2. This was opposition research funded by never trumpers and conducted by the MI6 guy Steele. I don’t know which story is correct.
