A federal jury has sentenced Dylann Roof to death for killing nine black church members in a racially motivated attack in 2015. Roof, who is white, faced either life in prison or execution for the slayings on June 17, 2015. The Justice Department says he is the first person to get the death penalty for federal hate crimes.

The guy ought to die, for sure. But the part I don't agree with in this is the "federal hate crimes." Why could not have this been a local court for a crime committed in that jurisdiction? And why not the death penalty simply for murdering people?

Exactly.

This jackwad is evil and desreves to die. The gaul of joining in with people who welcomed your participation in Bible study, then gunning them down. It’s bad enough, at all, without that.

But why he did so really doesn’t matter. The point is he killed multiples, and that itself deserves death.

And why not the death penalty simply for murdering people?

Because our justice system was subverted by leftist/globalist and those with agendas of bad intent. Hate crimes were never needed because our laws have long since covered crimes such as murder. Hate crimes were created and were to be used or targeted at white folk by the extreme leftist who've infiltrated government.

How many thousands of times have blacks committed racially motivated violent crimes against white folk but were never charged with hate crimes? It's become an ugly farce.

The federal appeals process is a bit shorter, so you don’t have to wait thru the state courts systems.................

Note the hypocrisy, only the Feds want to be able to invoke the death penalty ... however, in this case, justice will be served.

Charles, the shooter did not commit an interstate crime. Therefore, the feds cannot charge him with murder, only federal crimes such as “hate crime” laws. He could have been tried in state court but that probably would have taken longer and been subject to the possibility of jury nullification by southerners with a list of grievances against blacks.

I would have preferred to have it tried by the state and not the feds but the end result, in this case, will be roughly the same.
