The rules set by Sen. Charles Grassley, a Republican from Iowa and chairman of the Judiciary Committee, schedule Sessions' hearings for two days, with one day mostly devoted to testimony from Sessions and the second day featuring testimony from nine witnesses -- five called by Republicans and four called by Democrats. The witness lists are still being finalized; a Judiciary Committee spokeswoman told AL.com that the names should be made public on Monday, a day before the hearing.
After the two days of testimony, the 16-member committee will then vote whether to send Sessions' nomination to the full Senate, where the senator will need a majority of members to confirm him to head the Justice Department.
Sen. Dianne Feinstein, the ranking Democrat on the body, is pushing to delay the hearings in order to extend the confirmation process, allow the committee to call additional witnesses and gather more information so the committee can better judge Sessions, who has been criticized for handing the committee an incomplete questionnaire for review.

Sherrilyn Ifill, president of the NAACP Legal Defense Fund, argued that a lack of witnesses means Sessions won't be getting a proper vetting. Among her concerns are whether the committee will hear from Alabamians who can testify that Sessions is "not a civil rights advocate."
"It speaks to the refusal to the leadership of the Senate Judiciary Committee," she said on the Friday conference call. "We need time, and we need witnesses, and we need an opportunity to fully untangle the responsibilities of attorney general."

How long were the confirmation hearings for Eric Holder?
>>William Smith, the senator’s former chief counsel who has made the rounds on cable news to defend Sessions, pointed out that the hearings for President Obama’s attorney general nominees — Eric Holder and Loretta Lynch — were scheduled for the same amount of time that Sessions’ hearing is allotted.<<
Murphy’s Golden Rule: “The person with the gold makes the rules.” Substitute majority for gold. Tough noogies, RATs; GOP are the majority.
As the article pointed out, two days is the same amount of time devoted to the hearings for Eric Holder. Why does Sessions require longer?
Their children? Do they mean the children who somehow escaped slaughter in the womb by demoncrat abortionists? Do they mean THOSE children?
Jeff Sessions spent 20 years in the senate, they all know him well enough to just vote to confirm with no delay, but, here is the test.
The test is this: There is going to be a PizzaGate investigation!
Pedophiles and supporters of pedophilia will vote against Jeff, those who hate Pedophiles and do not support pedophilia will vote to confirm Jeff.
It is that simple folks.
I have known Pastor Bob all my life, he has been saying for as long as I can remember, that nothing will change till the ruling political class, their masters in the donor class and their subservients in the media and enforcement class fear their ultimate meeting with Christ (Hebrews 9:27) more than they love money, power, and unlimited sex with little boys and girls under 14.”
The hearings start on the 10th, Senator Sessions’ appoint as Attorney General should be approved by noon, if the Senate was anything other than what Pastor Bob preaches they are, money loving, power hungry pedophiles.
Even as dense as Rat’s are; one would think they would know the hammer comes down hardest on those who make things more difficult that they need to be.
Sessions has an impeccable record. The left just doesn’t like him politically. Well gee whiz; no one on the right liked Holder or Lynch either so what’s the beef?
I don’t see prosecution for previous actions happening.
I do see Sessions as a deterrent to future crime.
He has served with you, Dianne, dummy! Why do you need any witnesses at all?
Two days is enough.
Democrats and the DNC thug arm - the MSM - have plenty of time to do their trashing of a good man.
“He has served with you, Dianne, dummy! Why do you need any witnesses at all?”
I just wished there was time to completely investigate DiFi and her fourth husband, Tricky Dicky Blum (Mr. CB Richard Ellis) for all their crooked financial dealings which have made them multi-millionaires feeding at the public trough with her political help. Now there’s some “hearings” that would have real substance. But it won’t happen, and besides she’s 83 (oldest member of the Senate), so she’s not likely (hopefully) to be around too much longer anyway.
And Reid is just the tip of the iceberg. I believe that the corruption is wide and deep in the District of Criminals.
Don’t care what CRITICS SAY
“I hereby open this session of the Judiciary Committee for Jeff Sessions appointment as Attorney General of the United States. Are there any questions or testimony? Hearing none, let’s move right to a voice vote.
All in favor say aye ...., the ayes have it, adjourned.”
In 1994, after the Republicans took control of the house for the first time in 40 years, SNL did a skit with Chris Farley playing the part of Newt Gingrich. Farley took the gavel, called the house into session, and proceeded to pass bill after bill in machine gun like fashion. I think today's Republicans should do the same thing.
“William Smith, the senator’s former chief counsel who has made the rounds on cable news to defend Sessions, pointed out that the hearings for President Obama’s attorney general nominees — Eric Holder and Loretta Lynch — were scheduled for the same amount of time that Sessions’ hearing is allotted.”
End of discussion, next topic please
Screw these political-posturing critics.
My Prediction:
Jeff Sessions voted in by Friday. He starts work at 1 minute after noon time on the next Friday after.
Can you get hold of that SNL skit and post it and we post it everywhere, including all republican legislators’ facebook, twitter, etc.?
Maybe they could get the old Grand Wizard of the Alabama KKK to testify? Oh wait, he got the Death Penalty under Sessions.
Even if they only find past parking tickets they will bring it up in the hearings as if the tickets were felonies.
This is all an attempt to de-legitimize all cabinet appointees before they assume office, just as they're working overtime right now to de-legitimize President-elect Trump.
The nominees undoubtedly will all be approved despite the Democrat's delay and disruption attempts...but many will be royally attacked and smeared during the process.
Being of stern stuff like Mr. Trump, they will emerge above it all and will move on to take their respective offices and to make America great again.
But it's going to be a messy process thanks to the obstructive, destructive Dems and their cohourts in the enemedia.
