Authorities believe the suspect in Friday's deadly attack retrieved his a handgun from checked luggage before firing indiscriminately on the baggage claim area at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International airport. Transportation Security Administration rules allow travelers to pack unloaded firearms in checked luggage, so long as passengers declare their weapons to the airline while checking in, and they are packed in a locked, hard-sided container.

Full article leads to usatoday. So, just how many people fly everyday? How many legally checked firearms travel everyday? Since this guy was already on the fbi radar as having mental issues, no fly list? Firearms seizure protocols? Inanimate object vilification moves ahead. We all know the drill. When some assclown terrorist blows himself up along with a bunch of innocents, nobody bitches about the ball bearing or nail manufacturing people. I know it's not an argument that the alt-left radical extremist commie leftists will hear though.

Regulations won’t stop the crazy person or the jihadi.

“Authorities” (and the media) are making it up as events unfold.

A domestic terror attack by ISIS will spoil the grand exit of the most honorable and exalted Obama-Won-Obama.

With him flashing the ISIS one-finger salute to Allah, you’d think even the braindead state and federal officials would spot the Muslim terror ties to this typical weirdo. Yet, they expect us to believe that it was a “person with mental problems.” There are millions of those in the country….anyone watching TV election night knows that….but only those few watching ISIS videos seem to kill people. Hmmm…..wonder if there could be some connection???

Well, he apparently tried to tell the fbi that Trump and Putin were forcing him to watch isis/isil/is/daesh videos repeatedly. Or some aliens had inserted a probe where katie couric has hers. IDK. Bad deal all around.

The suspect, 26-year-old Esteban Santiago, allegedly loaded the gun in a bathroom before opening fire in the baggage claim area of Terminal 2, Broward County Commissioner Chip LaMarca wrote on Facebook.

There you go - bathrooms should be outlawed.

Didn’t the airline issue a statement within a few hours after the event, stating the passenger did not have a weapon in his checked baggage?

That was Air Canada. The perp flew Delta. What concerns me now is the “allegedly loaded” bit. Allegedly?! According to whom?

How about just some "No Loading Zone" in all the bathrooms?

They should probably set up a separate secure room/area in each terminal where all the checked firearms are claimed.

Anyone could just drive up to an airport, walk in with a gun and shoot. Why does it matter that a gun can be checked in luggage?

The bigger question is why was this guy not on the don’t fly list?????? He was interviewed by the FBI and told them he was being radicalized with ISIS videos!

just how would having a secure room for picking up legally checked firearms have prevented this kind of thing? He could have left the secured area even left the airport then just walked back into baggage claim and opened fire. people need to understand baggage claim is outside the federally regulated and secured zone anyone can walk in and out at will. if you are suggesting thay the baggage claim area be secured then thats something they tried it in Europe it just moves the soft targets to the transportation areas where people wait for taxis and shuttles. oh paniv let’s secure that too, ok now you have to secure every person, and vehicle entering or leaving an aera measured in square miles. Or you could let honest people arm themselves and this nonsense stops at the source when the jihadists know the target is not soft they are cowards and move on. Israel does airport security the right way layer defense and they PROFILE the sh1t out of people and use some classifird behaviour monitor means to spot lone wolf types but the big thing is PROFILE who cares if it is mot PC they certainly don’t.

So, my understanding is that all airports are “gun free zones”, so just another example of the left’s gun laws accomplishing the opposite of what they say they intended.

The guy was supposed to have an “encased” gun going into the terminal and leaving the terminal, with no opportunity to put it in use, just as any other law-abiding gun owner would be prevented in using their gun in self defense.

Only difference between the airport and a school, is the school has no “encased” mechanism for gun presence.

And sent for counseling. But, if you can’t handle your social security finances, they may confiscate your firearms.

This happened in the passenger-pickup area of the airport where people are coming in and going out.

Someone could easily bring in a gun from outside.

And they let this guy check in one item only ( a pistol), and; they did not find this suspicious? Amazing. TSA bothers everyone of us regular passengers, and; they do zip about this. He damn sure did not have the ammo in his pockets, so; a bag checked in containing a pistol and ammo did not rile TSA enough to call ahead or to really check this guy out. TSA is responsible for aiding this jerk.
