ITHACA, N.Y. -- In an unprecedented State of the City Address Wednesday night, Mayor Svante Myrick addressed President-Elect Donald Trump and his administration, calling it "openly hostile" and saying that the City of Ithaca will stand for the needs of its residents in the face of adversity....
"I believe the fight against fascism will be waged and be won at the local level," Myrick said. "We are the antidote to fascism. We are the antidote to the rage that encourages people to vote against anyone who seems just a bit different."
He said fascist governance works because it allows people to dehumanize those who are different from themselves. But focusing officials and residents on our their own communities and how Ithaca can become better tackles that problem head-on.
"...It is impossible to look into our neighbor's eyes and to see anything less than a human being," he said.

City of Evil bump
Well, they apparently have the Mayor that they deserve.
Journalists don’t have a hair on their collective a&^es if one of them doesn’t ask Ithaca public officials to qualify, ‘openly hostile’...
Example? Please. What is it you are claiming?
It’s JOURNALISM... not rocket science... even I can see that some ‘reporting’ has to be done here.
A journalist who dared ask that in the city of evil would probably have her car keyed before she got back to it. ;-)
If the intent of that leftist nutjob was to kill Donald Trump, isn’t that in itself the crime of assassination and calls for the same penalty?
Another little man with delusions and big talk.
there is a reason why folks there get Ithacated, and throw themselves into gorges.
From what I have read, Ithaca is a facist entity.
It is important for folks like this to engage in hyperbole. They convert policy differences into fights of good versus evil. Which in turn justify extreme measures against their opponents.
It is a common socialist trick, regardless of which flavor of socialist: communist, fascist, Nazi, find an “other,” focus anger on them for political advantage.
“Ithaca...City if Evil...”
I believe this. It sound wierd, I realize; however when I was in Ithaca about 6 years ago when one of our daughters was making a college visit to Ithaca College - as soon as I entered the valley I felt uneasy.
The place had an anti-Christian aura. I know that this makes me sound sort of kooky, because I am not the sort who goes about in daily life discerning auras, but this sense of being in an occult type bubble was there, even though it makes me sound out there.
My daughter hated the place too and went to college elsewhere.
My niece who graduated from Cornell several years ago is still brainwashed by secular atheistic liberalism and I fear will she might never recover her common sense.
I have dubbed Ithaca “hippie valley” yet that is almost too benign a term.
Was it a native American burial ground or site of a massacre or anything like that?
Donald Trump has been most fortunate his entire career, to have found the right enemies. This, more than friendships and alliances, has propelled many of the great men to their pinnacles of success, and a careful reading of history would reveal that this a recognized principle of governance and business acumen long before Nicolai Machiavelli parsed and paraphrased it into “The Prince”.
Long thought to be a treatise for authoritarian rule, “The Prince” is actually a pretty thorough study of how power is obtained and maintained once acquired. There are both just and unjust reasons to retain a grip on power, and merely to retain power for its own sake falls into the second category.
Donald Trump does not owe the city of Ithaca anything. But the city of Ithaca may end up owing Donald a lot, even if the lesson is very expensive for them.
And right there he's enraged against people who voted differently than him.
Ithaca! The home of Cornhole University!

Liberals will increasingly marginalize themselves with this silly rhetoric. As Trump succeeds, they will fade.
A lot of it is that he is totally butthurt over losing the job he had been promised in the Clinton administration.
“........” said the fascist.
This ridiculous debasement of the word “fascism” will mean the liberals won’t be able to identify true fascism should it ever emerge.
