President-elect Donald J. Trumps transition staff has issued a blanket edict requiring politically appointed ambassadors to leave their overseas posts by Inauguration Day, according to several American diplomats familiar with the plan, breaking with decades of precedent by declining to provide even the briefest of grace periods.
The mandate issued without exceptions, according to a terse State Department cable sent on Dec. 23, diplomats who saw it said threatens to leave the United States without Senate-confirmed envoys for months in critical nations like Germany, Canada and Britain. In the past, administrations of both parties have often granted extensions on a case-by-case basis to allow a handful of ambassadors, particularly those with school-age children, to remain in place for weeks or months.
Mr. Trump, by contrast, has taken a hard line against leaving any of President Obamas political appointees in place as he prepares to take office on Jan. 20 with a mission of dismantling many of his predecessors signature foreign and domestic policy achievements. Political ambassadors, many of them major donors who are nominated by virtue of close ties with the president, almost always leave at the end of his term; ambassadors who are career diplomats often remain in their posts.

If the Russians took him seriously, he would have succeeded in starting a war. It’s delicious that the Russians said exactly that.
I’ll bet the Churchill bust is back in the White House before the Trumps get back from the parade. And I’ll bet Trump is photographed posing with it. And I’ll bet the photos are on the front pages in Britain.
For some reason, I get the feeling that this may not be the last “break with precedent”. Get used to it, Slimes.
Winning!
Mole removal.

Obama Gives Political Ambassadors Their Pink Slips
http://voices.washingtonpost.com/44/2008/12/obama-gives-political-ambassad.html
Thanks for that article. Glad to see that we have someone that doesn’t respond to obama’s partisan politics with a “can’t we just all get along” attitude.
Trump better wear out a bunch of pens on his first day signing EO’s to counter all of obama’s. I wonder if Trump can just sign one EO and say “All EO’s since Nov. 1, 2016 are null and void.” Then sign another 20 that cover specific ones prior to that.
As much as I wish one could just sign ALL of obama’s EO’s away, that might cause too much chaos. I imagine there is stuff in there about pay rates, re-naming post offices, etc.
Obama has set the bar.
All traditions are now broken.
I hope this applies to the Ambassador to the UN.
Although, the UN ambassador is probably in some other class than ambassadors to countries.
They all should have tendered their resignations after the election
The ambassadorships they bought and paid for are over
Carolyn Kennedy gets to buy her own sushi
The pedophiles need to pack up their porn
Cue “boo hoo girl”
And he needs to do the same thing at the Pentagon
All political appointees OUT
Usually a career Charges d’ Affaires (2d in command) is in charge until an ambassador is confirmed.
The order does not say the envoys have to pull kids out of school and return home.
It just says they will no longer be in their positions.
The politically-appointed envoys were all big donors to Obama, so have the $$$ to remain in the countries where they are and live comfortably. ....Crybabies
GOOD!! He BETTER FIRE ALL THE ATTORNEYS ALSO!!! DRAIN THE SWAMP!!!
GOOD! Can the whole lot of them—Include the CIA and IRS, even the FBI—end corruption by pulling the fangs of the snake.
DRAIN THE SWAMP.
Awww, does Foggy Bottom need some butt hurt forms....
And this puts hella pressure on the Senate to do its advise and consent job in a timely fashion...
Diplomats are supposed to be experts in dealing with different crisis,so deal with it and show your tour expertise,go on the internet and find an apartment
There must have been SOMETHING that one (or more) of the ambassadors did to undermine Trump that set this off.
I don’t know (or remember) what it was, but I’m positive there’s some history here.
