In Break With Precedent, Obama Envoys Are Denied Extensions Past Inauguration Day
NY Times ^ | Jan 5, 2017 | JULIE HIRSCHFELD DAVIS

President-elect Donald J. Trump’s transition staff has issued a blanket edict requiring politically appointed ambassadors to leave their overseas posts by Inauguration Day, according to several American diplomats familiar with the plan, breaking with decades of precedent by declining to provide even the briefest of grace periods.

The mandate — issued “without exceptions,” according to a terse State Department cable sent on Dec. 23, diplomats who saw it said — threatens to leave the United States without Senate-confirmed envoys for months in critical nations like Germany, Canada and Britain. In the past, administrations of both parties have often granted extensions on a case-by-case basis to allow a handful of ambassadors, particularly those with school-age children, to remain in place for weeks or months.

Mr. Trump, by contrast, has taken a hard line against leaving any of President Obama’s political appointees in place as he prepares to take office on Jan. 20 with a mission of dismantling many of his predecessor’s signature foreign and domestic policy achievements. “Political” ambassadors, many of them major donors who are nominated by virtue of close ties with the president, almost always leave at the end of his term; ambassadors who are career diplomats often remain in their posts.

Political appointees. Ambassadors who are career diplomats will be left in place. They usually comprise about tho-thirds of our ambassadors.

All ambassadors must submit their resignations when a new President is elected.

All Democrats, and any other identified Liberals, in the executive branch should be fired effective at noon on January 20. Trump is wasting no time draining the swamp.

Canada is run by a Red-lite and Britain is still on the far-left of the political spectrum.

Acting Ambassadors can do the job well until a replacement is named, or they are promoted up.

Some of Obie’s Ambassadors were the best political appointments money could buy (if you had no talent, no intelligence and kissed Obama’s ass and the DNC with millions of dollars).

Yeah, how about: “In break with precedent, Obama starts war with Russia with two weeks left in term.”

Drain the swamp.

More than a few of those "career diplomats" should get their ass kicked out as well. Hope the Trump team is looking into who they might be.

It is telling to read how the State Department is so in tune to ‘the past’ and how things were done then. They fail to acknowledge this is the post BO’B era now and the past was wiped clean. The CHURCH lady would say “How CONVENIENT!”

Roger Stone says he has a note from Richard Nixon (or, as journalists always say, “Richard M. Nixon,” so we don’t mix him up with Richard B. Nixon or Richard Q. Nixon) saying he had just met a future President of the U.S., Donald Trump. In 1983.

At this point in his life, Trump has no motive to appease anybody. He’s not “climbing.” He literally has no ambitions AFTER the Presidency.
