There is no consideration of what is or is not good for Russia, or for Russians, only what is best for him and his close circle of oligarch elites. The 2012 U.S. adoption of the Magnitsky Act, targeting Russian officials tied to criminal repression, was answered by banning the adoption of Russian orphans by Americans. Western sanctions over Putins illegal annexation of Crimea were met by boycotting many foreign goods, harming Russian businesses and consumers to the perverse point of physically destroying thousands of tons of smuggled food in a country where many millions are battling hunger and poverty. Putins strategy is to get Russians to blame the free world by further punishing Russians himself. This can be countered only by being for Russia, but against Putin.
Mr Putin, what do you think of your "useful idiot"
supporters on Free Republic?
"The term 'useful idiots' has been attributed to Lenin, as a description of those mindless people in the Western democracies who would always find ways to excuse whatever the Soviet Union did. Columnist Mona Charen's new book Useful Idiots shows that such people are still with us.
Long after the Soviet Union's horrors had become too widely known around the world for their sympathizers in the West to be able to get away with whitewashing the USSR, new Communist dictatorships arose to become the new objects of the affections of the Western intelligentsia and of like-minded people in the media and in politics. ..."

Christians in Russia have said they are determined to preach the Gospel and fulfill the Great Commission despite tough new laws signed by President Vladimir Putin that ban evangelism outside of churches. ...

Our .gov always needs a boogie-man or a bad guy to hate and focus on ,, and most people agree with them .. .
imho
Just like Israel doesn’t have a problem with the USA...but with Obama (and the “tradition!” Jews that voted for him.)
Folks,
It’s ok to believe that Russia had no part in hacking the DNC and Podesta and still believe that Putin is a dictator who is threatening eastern and central Europe and must be stopped in the Ukraine and Syria. These are not mutually exclusive ideas.
Garry Kasparov is correct when he states that Putin is a brutal dictator and he is not our friend. That doesn’t mean we can’t work with him to find a resolution in Syria and the Ukraine, but we must do it from a position of strength (rebuild of military) and let him know in no uncertain terms that the days of the Obama feckless and naïve foreign policy are over.
Bird cage liner newspaper.
Look, Kasparov. We don’t need phony journalists like you to tell us who the U.S. does and does not have a problem with. We will wait for our new President to tell us that. Now go crawl back under your rock like the good little Leftist snake that you obviously are.
It's nothing new for him. For a long time he's been sending radical muslims and terrorists into Europe with the intent to (further) destabilize it, in order to give him cover for his broader expansionist aims. The guy is out to basically restore the evil empire that was the Soviet Union, and then-some with the substantial addition of the oil/gas-rich Middle East. Trump's closest advisers, including Mike Pence and Jeff Sessions, fully get and understand this. Thank God he was wise enough to bring them onto the team.
Thanks for the wall-o-text. Did not read it.
Suggestion:
You want to fight Putin so bad YOU invade Russia. I hear June is the earliest the roads are dry enough. Better wrap it up by the end of September though......
Our problem with Putin is no worse now than it has been. The Dems and media just acknowledge the problem now because they need a scapegoat for Hillary’s defeat.
Well stated.
Thanks in part to our head-up-their-butts snooze media, including much of the “right-wing” media, the typical American knows next to nothing about Putin and Russia. Hannity and Limbaugh rarely touch the subject. And when they do they leave out 95% of the need-to-know stuff.
I suspect that after the Soros-supported O admin handed Putin all he could ever hope for on such all-important things like missile defense and nukes, Putin slapped the willing, traitorous punk in the face and told him to get lost. Russia is like the mafia and Obama is like one of their disposable stooges.
Thanks,
I think one way to put pressure on Putin is to continue to open up access to our natural gas and oil reserves here in America. Keeping the price of oil and natural gas low is squeezing Russia and all the petro economies. Most of them happen to be our enemies who use this funding to defeat us.
I read somewhere that one of the problems Western Europe has is that they don’t have the ability to refine LNG so they can’t import from us. It said that they are in the process of building more refineries to wean themselves off of Russian natural gas and get more from us. Of course that probably will take years to do, but I think this is a good thing. If we can start supplying more and more of their natural gas, they won’t have to be under Putin’s thumb.
Kasparov called Trump a racist and supported Hillary. He is anti-Trump. He is a Soros/NeoCon tool.
Putin enjoys 86% support of Russians and it’s rising. Kasparaov (who ran for Pres of Russia) has 0% support of Russians.
Literally everything Kasparov says about Russia/Putin is a lie.
I suppose he, like myself, was worried about Trump's flattering remarks of that KGB thug. Except in his case, despite his being one of the greatest chess players in the world, was unable to see through it and realize that it was all, or mostly, talk. There is no way he (Trump) would have selected open Putin critics like Mike Pence and Jeff Sessions if he really thought Putin was a good guy and someone we should trust.
...
He (Kasparov), also, despite being an outstanding chess player, apparently fell for the malarkey that Obama-Hillary were really worried about Russia. How could they be when it was their admin who significantly strengthened the Russians, while, at the same time, practically decimating OUR OWN military. Why on earth would Putin prefer a strong-on-defense team like Trump-Pence over a weak one like Hillary-Obama. That is the last thing they want or need at this time while they’re in the process of basically restoring the evil empire that was the Soviet Union.
That's about the same percentage that misses Stalin.
Yeah, Putin is evil because of his background. American elites and intelligence are honest and are only look out for American citizens. Right.
Last I heard, it was Putin that was fighting the Christian killers and the US was overthrowing tolerant governments and supporting the Islamofascists.
“Kasparov (who ran for Pres of Russia) has 0% support of Russians.”
Many of the Russians who supported or agree with Kasparov have already left for Europe and the US. I have worked with several of them here in recent years.
