Analysis: A Complete Breakdown of PA’s Presidential Results (Maps)
Politics PA ^ | January 1, 2017 | Nick Field

On November 8th, Donald Trump became the first Republican to win Pennsylvania since 1988, emerging victorious by just 44,292 votes. To put that in perspective, the last time the GOP won PA: the Berlin Wall was still up, Jimmy Stewart was still alive and I wasn’t even born yet.

How did the Keystone State shift from blue to red after so long? That’s what this piece aims to find out. Regional Breakdown:

There’s an oft-cited apocryphal James Carville quote that Pennsylvania is Philadelphia and Pittsburgh with Alabama in the middle. Like many myths, this one takes a kernel of truth and stretches it too thin.

I spent much of 2016 arguing that PA was defined more by an Appalachia/Acela divide. While I feel my characterization is closer to the truth, the map proves that the commonwealth isn’t so simple.

Very interesting. Thanks for posting. HOORAY Pennsylvanians (I knew it was over when the Keystone state went for Trump) In fact I bought myself a celebratory shot that night in a Vegas casino.

Thanks, Pennsylvanians. WOOOHOOOO!

There was a little improvement for the GOP in the Democrat stronghold (10k votes). In 2012 Romney had a 565k defict while in 2016 Trump had a 555k vote deficit.

In 2012, Philadelphia County reported 557,024 votes for Obama, with 91,840 for Romney (85.2 % to 14.1 %).

In 2016, Philadelphia County reported 560,542 votes for Clinton, with 105,418 for Trump, and 6,786 for Johnson (82.4 % to 15.5 % to 1 %).

Republicans are legally barred from bringing any challenges to voting lists and Democrats perpetrate and benefit from industrial scale vote fraud. Why would they call the AG’s attention to something like that?

Actually, Republicans finally put up someone who could play here, that’s what happened, and it was obvious from day one.

Hillary actually didn’t underperform nearly as badly as I expected her too, but Trump got 300k + voters to show up and vote for him that had not shown up, let alone voted R! He crushed her by simply dumping stupid policies that R’s had made dogma to their party, and their backers would NEVER let them separate from.

The Upper Midwest should have gone Republican, just like the south a LONG time ago, but because Republicans continued to embrace globalist policies like Open Borders and more importantly “Free Trade” there was absolutely no motivation for D’s to switch.. they would just stay home, and not vote at all.

Trump played large ball from day one, and so many people just flat out either refused to recognize it, or was so focused on the small ball nonsense, that has pretty much defined every election since 2000.. they couldn’t see it.

Trump was swinging for the fences, and had he not been for that tape, Trump would have probably gotten another 50 EC votes or so.. .certainly would have taken MN, and NH, and would have flipped other states no one would have imagined.

MN is the most amazing story of election night in my opinion.... Trump nearly took MN! MN! the state that is famous for voting for Mondale! That’s incredible.

PA flipped, because republicans FINALLY had a candidate who could play here... nothing more complicated than that....

Some PA midstaters have been called "dumb Dutchmen" but they are smart enough to recognize Romney and his ilk as Øbama-lite.

This time there was no reason to stay home.

Sigh.....

Look I’ve been telling folks this since before the election.. knock it off with the fraud nonsense.... Is there fraud in Philly? Yep, but it hasn’t been what’s cost R’s PA since 1988.. its CRAPPY CANDIDATES who could not play here.... just that simple...

Did fraud happen? sure, it happens every election... There was fraud when Kerry got 3M votes, Fraud when Obama got 3.3M votes, Fraud when Obama got 3M votes and Fraud when Hillary got 2.9M votes.... I am all for cleaning up Fraud, but its not what caused R’s to lose here... Dems can’t manufacture 300k of fraud.. sorry folks, they cant, and that’s what R’s have lost by consistently... They lose by those margins because they have put up folks who DON’T PLAY HERE!

The reality is the realignment of the working class in the upper midwest has been LONG overdue... but it could not and would not happen until Republicans gave them a reason to... and as long as they were embracing globalist policies like open borders and “free trade” the realignment would not happen... folks would just disengage rather than change parties.... R’s weren’t going to reject the globalist policies because their money men would not let them... so D’s kept winning PA.

Now, I am all for exposing the fraud in the system, but folks are smoking some very good stuff if they think D’s are finding 300k+ of fraud, they aren’t!

Fraud in PA is probably somewhere in the multiple 10s of thousands... 50kish most likely on the highest most aggressive figures... Even in those notorious 2012 results where 50some districts in Philly all went Obama without a single Romney vote... all those districts combined only added up to 20,000 total votes, and Romney would not have gotten anything more than 10% of those on the most kind estimates....

I am all for cleaning it up, but need to stop blaming fraud.... Fact is PA hasn’t been close in a long long time, and the reason has been the stand the party has had and the candidates it has run... Same with most of the rest of the upper mid west. Trump has shown the way.. hopefully future republicans won’t be stupid and learnfrom it.... because the Midwest should be as solidly republican as the south in just a few cycles sans MN and IL if the republicans don’t do anything stupid.

A lot of precincts in Philadelphia vote more folks than they have registered from what I read and the Black Panthers rule there.

The press totally ignored voter fraud going on in black communities... because it helped Hillary.

No, it wasn’t “democrat-lite” ... again these MYTHS have to end...

The mid west isn’t hard to understand, yet so many people just don’t get it.. because they buy into cliche’s they have been fed, or are just blind.

Simply put, NO STATE.. NONE... is as politically simple as TV pundits like to portray them as... but they are largely ignorant idiots themselves who have no on the ground experience of any consequence in the states so they just spout off garbage...

Folks didn’t not vote for Romney because he was Democrat light.. they Didn’t vote for him, or any other republican or democrat because NEITHER party gave them a reason too... They are registered Democrats for historical reasons... Unions, jobs, history, not because they agree with the direction the Democratic party has been heading for the last 20 or 40 years...

Those folks aren’t going to just start voting Republican because Democrats have decided your daughter should have to allow a boy into the girls locker room... They won’t like it, and nto agree with it, but that isn’t going to get them switch parties... what they will do, is just stay home... and disengage.

On the things that matter, that would get them to think of switching, there was little difference between R and D.. both were backed by big money who want open borders and “free trade”... so, they just consign themselves to ef the system... nowhere for them to go.

Trump FINALLY offered them a real REASON to give R’s a chance... and a real PLATFORM that they could get behind... If republicans don’t blow it, the midwest will be as reliably red as the south in a few cycles.

It had NOTHING to do with R’s just being D light.. it had to do with R’s not giving the old school D’s here a reason to change....

Most vote fraud complaints are in the primary, Dem on Dem and R on R and in local non-partisan elections. So the technicality you mention is irrelevant most of the time.

For example, the most fraudulent election I’m aware of is the nonpartisan race for Chicago Alderman with Sandi Jackson (wife of Jesse Jr) where Obama’s mentors (Stroger/Beavers/Partee orgs) fought against Operation PUSH. In that election both sides conducted massive vote fraud, which made it more fraudulent than where just one side commits vote fraud.

Obama’s vindictive US Attorney targeted the Jacksons but did not touch the vote fraud issue.

When a prosecutor brings a case, he represents the people. He does not (technically) represent a political party.

The vote fraud in the Elections is massive in the Democrat big cities and in all of South Florida at least.

all of South Florida at least.

Florida gov tried one of the most well known anti-vote fraud efforts of recent times. Unfortunately, the people doing the anti-vote fraud effort appeared totally incompetent. They had no idea of database validation and cleansing procedures. They had no idea of reality on the streets of Florida.

Hopefully, the next anti-vote fraud effort will hire some people competent to conduct the effort.
