340 N.Koreans Executed Since Kim Jong-un Came to Power
December 30, 2016 08:22
North Korea has executed or purged 340 people over the past five years in leader Kim Jong-un's struggle to consolidate his rule.
The Institute for National Security Strategy, a think tank run by South Korea's National Intelligence Service, said Thursday executions of officials have steadily increased since 2012, with some 140 high-ranking officials purged or executed this year alone.
Public executions of ordinary people are also becoming more common. The institute said more than 60 cases were recorded as of August this year, double the annual average since Kim came to power in late 2011.
The institute also said US$300 million was funneled into two nuclear tests and more than 20 ballistic missile launches this year.
Over the past five years, an estimated $180 million has been poured into erecting more than 450 statues of the Kim family.
But the next twelve months could prove turbulent as the institute forecasts increased domestic instability due to international sanctions and growing poverty.

N.Korea Smells Drone Plot Against Leader Statues
By Kim Myong-song
December 15, 2016 11:53
A North Korean propaganda outlet on Wednesday claimed that defectors tried to use drones to destroy statues of nation founder Kim Il-sung and former leader Jong-il near the border with China.
The Uriminzokkiri website said the defectors, which it referred to as "human scum," were using drones to target statues of the "highest dignity."
It accused the South Korean government of sponsoring the drone attacks.
A source said there is some basis to the claim. "Some defectors conducted drone test flights in China's Jilin Province in November and flew two drones to the North's Ryanggang Province," the source said.
"If North Korea resorts to more provocations, the defectors are ready to send drones from any point along the 1,400 km China-North Korea border to target the statues."

Well, other than the fact the headline doesn’t match the story, making it just more fake news.

Chinese airlines withdraw plans for chartered flights to S. Korea
2016/12/31 16:27
SEOUL, Dec. 31 (Yonhap) -- Chinese airlines have withdrawn plans to run chartered flights to South Korea for the busy Chinese New Year holiday season next month, the transport ministry said Saturday.
Two Chinese air carriers -- China Southern Airlines and China Eastern Air -- rolled back requests for the South Korean government to approve their plans to run chartered flights to South Korea a day earlier, according to the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport.
The companies cited "internal Chinese environment" as reasons for the cancellation, the ministry said.
Chartered flights are operated upon government approval, usually in busy travel seasons. The latest requests were filed ahead of the Chinese New Year holiday season in late January when a great number of Chinese are expected to travel to South Korea.
The cancellation took place simultaneously as the Chinese government rejected approval for South Korean airlines' similar requests to run non-scheduled flights between the countries in January.
The Chinese disapproval delivered to three South Korean air carriers -- Korean Air Lines, Asiana Airlines and Jeju Air -- on Friday was critically portrayed by the South Korean media as retaliation for Seoul's decision to deploy the Terminal-High Altitude Area Defense, an advanced U.S. missile shield, on the Korean Peninsula.
"Usually, both countries communicate before (any decision) on the chartered flight issue, but this time we didn't and were also given no specific reason for the disapproval," a ministry official said.
The official said South Korean diplomats in China are contacting local airlines and trying to find out why the decision was made.

Looking at the picture, three in the middle are leaning in like they really want to be in the picture. Brown nosing, as if it will do them any good. The second from the right is standing at attention - he wants to signal that he as a professional that can be counted on to follow orders. The one on the far left, the same. The one on the right is smiling for some reason. But the one second from the left looks like he realizes what a dangerous position he’s in, and he’s scared out of his wits.

This kind of photo op is mostly staged. Guys holding Kim's arms are probably told to do so. Kim is trying to show some rapport with ordinary people. Many of his photo-ops show similar pose. Of course, some of them are just too scared to look composed and relaxed.

You can let domestic enemies in the government and press destroy you and your agenda, or you can have them shot.
Feeding them to wild dogs is a bit over the top though.
This is the way government has always worked for thousands of years.
American leftists beware.
