Beginning on Jan. 1, prostitution by minors will be legal in California. Yes, you read that right.
SB 1322 bars law enforcement from arresting sex workers who are under the age of 18 for soliciting or engaging in prostitution, or loitering with the intent to do so. So teenage girls (and boys) in California will soon be free to have sex in exchange for money without fear of arrest or prosecution.
This terribly destructive legislation was written and passed by the progressive Democrats who control California's state government with a two-thirds "supermajority."
To their credit, they are sincere in their belief that decriminalizing underage prostitution is good public policy that will help victims of sex trafficking.
Unfortunately, the reality is that the legalization of underage prostitution suffers from the fatal defect endemic to progressive-left policymaking: it ignores experience, common sense and most of all human nature — especially its darker side.

Anyone would understand and forgive trafficking but this excuses ALL minors. Teens pimp themselves out all the time.
Sorry I just don’t buy that line. Sounds fishy to me. I would insist that they are arrested, doesn’t mean they will be found guilty right? At the very least it gets them into the system instead of ignored. Don’t BUY it for a second. Call me conspiracy or whatever it sends a bad message.

How can you arrest any pizza-gate people when sex with children is legalized. The applicable subsection, as changed, is here:
SECTION 1. Section 647 of the Penal Code is amended to read:
(2) Notwithstanding paragraph (1), this subdivision does not apply to a child under 18 years of age who is alleged to have engaged in conduct to receive money or other consideration that would, if committed by an adult, violate this subdivision. A commercially exploited child under this paragraph may be adjudged a dependent child of the court pursuant to paragraph (2) of subdivision (b) of Section 300 of the Welfare and Institutions Code and may be taken into temporary custody pursuant to subdivision (a) of Section 305 of the Welfare and Institutions Code, if the conditions allowing temporary custody without warrant are met.
The article claims, in part, that the intention behind the changes are to allow child prostitutes to be immune from charges stemming from said acts and turned back out on the street. It a claims that this works in favor of the sex traffickers because no time in prison for the child prostitute means more time on the street and more money for the pimp. Are you guys getting that from the paragraph above?
In reality, the changes passed allow the child prostitute to be taken as a ward of the state, ending the illegal activity. How well it works is yet to be seen. If this story didn’t raise a red flag as being illogical from the get go, you need to take a serious step back.
I don’t want people on my side who make me look foolish, and neither should you. Yes, the libs pull some pretty heinous BS. This is not one of those times. If this law fills a gap in the law that would have otherwise prevented a child from being removed from a dreadful situation, I’m all for it.

sure as hell didn’t know that any kind of prostitution
was legal. Gee, I’ve watched that Jail program on TV.
When the program has originated in Las Vegas I have
seen arrested prostituses who say they came from
SoCal to ply their trade. They could have stayed home,
worked, and avoided arrest. We talking local ordinances
versus state law or what? I wonder if I am too old
to become a pimp?

What hooey. So evil. And then they’ll show child prostitution numbers drop because police will have to let it go and the Sacramento problem will be all under the table so to speak.
What it’s saying is it’s illegal, but the minor is not a criminal but a victim. If anything it brings the two laws into alignment. The way it was an underage prostitute was both a victim and a criminal for the same act.
