Beginning on Jan. 1, prostitution by minors will be legal in California. Yes, you read that right.
SB 1322 bars law enforcement from arresting sex workers who are under the age of 18 for soliciting or engaging in prostitution, or loitering with the intent to do so. So teenage girls (and boys) in California will soon be free to have sex in exchange for money without fear of arrest or prosecution.
This terribly destructive legislation was written and passed by the progressive Democrats who control California's state government with a two-thirds "supermajority."
To their credit, they are sincere in their belief that decriminalizing underage prostitution is good public policy that will help victims of sex trafficking.
Unfortunately, the reality is that the legalization of underage prostitution suffers from the fatal defect endemic to progressive-left policymaking: it ignores experience, common sense and most of all human nature — especially its darker side.

And now a man who rapes a female minor can say: “She is a prostitute. She offered me her body, we didn’t discuss the price.” and perhaps get off without being charged, since child prostitution has been legalized.
The Democrats are always doing it “for the children”.

They didn’t legalize child prostitution. It’s no longer a crime for a child to sell themselves for sex, but it’s still still statutory rape to engage with sex with a minor. Therefore child prostitution is still an illegal act, they’re just not going to punish the child for it under the idea that they’re not responsible for their actions under law.
Who needs drugs, the decisions that leftist make are enough to blow your mind. Unbelievable!
It’s still illegal for the adult, along with statutory rape laws. It just means it’s not illegal on the part of the minor, but the john can be arrested. The headline is misleading.
You have more “faith” in the California judicial system than I do. And if the John says, I’m muslim and the girl is an infidel and therefore it is legal, under Sharia, for me to have sex with her....and you wouldn’t want to be called “anti-Islamic” for attempting to punish me with laws I don’t recognize.
Hopefully this folly will be recognized and the population will demand a change (a very, very long shot)

The law got passed because KIDNAP VICTIMS who were being forced into sex slavery were being arrested and prosecuted for something they were FORCED to do!
The cops and the prosecutors refused to stop doing this so the legislature acted to stop it.
This doesn’t legalize child prostitution it stops the victimization of sex slaves by over zealous law enforcement who only care about how many “collars” they get as if it’s a stupid game!
I’ll assume that child pornography is still illegal there. However, I wouldn’t be surprised if this is the first step to make it legal.
