Our boards are comprised of parents who want to spend our money on their kids and teachers from other districts. Bottom line, education reform is a top 10 priority and I'm hoping Trump gets someone like Scott Walker to help his new education secretary to promote completion and school choice.

Have you heard the term “regulatory capture”. It means that any board, appointed or elected will sooner or later be controlled by the interests they are supposed to be regulating. The concept is that nobody cares who the 5th member of the school board is. And if its an ex-teacher who happens to be collecting a teachers pension, some say she knows something about teaching. Then add a guy who has a degree in education but made his money selling school books. And of course a guy who works for the law firm that represents the school. And the insurance agent who has a very large policy with the school. And a women who works for Wells Fargo and wants to float bonds that are backed by the school board.

So where are the parents that have children in the school? Well, they are busy. They work and have kids and are young. And besides all these guys sound like they know something about being on a board.

A charter school board is normally filled with parents, a requirement. And its business board has people who donate to the school. I am not saying that it can’t happen but regulatory capture seems to happen less often at charter schools.

Around here, the school board is not on the side of the community, parents, or children. People run on one agenda, then go over to the dark side. The problem is that the district is so large that a candidate of any one interest group doesn't have a say.

Education should be local and small. The state should have a minimum of course requirements. For poorer communities, the state should provide no-strings-attached money.

Vouchers, Charter Schools, closing failing local schools make the problems worse. Hold the community and parents accountable for their small-community local schools. What's happening now is that those who are most likely to contribute to a positive school environment, both parents and students, are being enabled to leave. If an opt out is necessary, online public school education with the students having access to local extracurricular activities is enough of one.

That's my take. Anything the gov "fixes" just gets worse. The further the "solution" is from the people, the more likely it is to do more harm than good.

JMHO, based on a lot of years spent teaching, in every conceiveable environment.

No. It should only be the parents of the children who control what goes into the worldview of their children. We have destroyed the idea of parental Natural Duties embedded in our Constitution, which demands parents to raise their own children, which is what created individualism and Free Will to the greatest degree in the history of the World. Only in America, where the English class structure of indoctrination into classes/group-think never existed in America. Children could grow up to “think” for themselves and they were filled with Common Sense (real life experiences—not artificial, controlled ones) until John Dewey forced mandatory “education” by the State (Fabian Socialists) and destroyed Classical Christian curricula for moral relativism and pragmatism which was designed to destroy concepts of Objective Truth (God) and teach evil ideologies and vice as “good” (moral relativism). (Wisdom is discerning good and evil which doesn’t exist without Objective Truth (God)).

This was the purpose of the “Prussian” system of mass indoctrination-—to make little brainwashed drones for State slavery (NWO/One Mind)—like the Prussian army, just masses of people who could never think for themselves and only took orders and did the most atrocious evil things because of “orders” only, and that programmed mindset which only embeds dependency.

Individualism and free will and creativity comes from wisdom and knowledge which is only transmitted by free, unstructured human interactions which embed agency in children and the ability to control their own base emotions. Sitting in a classroom, being controlled 24/7 or demeaned for “thinking” for yourself or punished for your natural male instincts is EVIL and it destroys children and makes them into angry, self-hating programmed “bots”. (Germany’s system of self-loathing and suicide).

Now, the Davy Crockett type of “education” inside the Natural Family is ideal, where Classical “education” (the Bible and Great Books) are the main curricula (not queer studies which destroys children’s understanding of Truth (God) and Logic and Science (Natural Law Theory)—the ideas which created the Age of Reason and Modern Science and the US Constitution.

The Leftists want to destroy the Chrstian worldview of Free Will and Individualism and that is what this “system” does. John Taylor Gatto goes into the deep destruction of human minds which occurs in this brainwashing system. The Natural Family exists to destroy “group” “think”—and only Christian cultures developed that individualism and the idea of free will which created Western Civilization. No other worldview is as rational (based on Natural Law Theory) as Christianity is...that is why it has to be destroyed by Marxists—because they need irrational people who are incapable of critical thought. (like the skools create now).

We need to get govt. OUT of programming our children and get parents into truly parenting—and shame them when they don’t. Socialization occurs in the Natural Family between the ages of two and five and it is essential for it to include unstructured interactions which embed agency and true self-esteem because children learn to control their own desires and base urges and body functions. Putting them into artificial systems where they are demeaned, shamed by peer pressure, etc., and exposed to herd “think” where if they express their own uniqueness, they are punished or shamed or unpopular (rejected). The system is set to destroy Virtue formation in children (children controlling their own emotions—just have outside control 24/7).

All children want to be loved and included-—but the system sets up a group-think system where individualism and Free Will are destroyed and never embedded in the children-—so they will have a tribal, serf mind for life.

We need to re-evaluate HOW to create critical thinking, moral human beings. Socrates stated the ONLY purpose of education was to teach Virtue in children. Why? Because only virtuous people can be free and control themselves. Outer Control (the State) is never needed. Like our Founders stated, if all men were angels, we would need no government. Marxists understand that and for totalitarianism they need evil people so they designed a system to destroy virtue formation and hyper-sexualize children so they will be corrupted and remain puerile for life—and need govt. assistance.
