Barajas, the owner of Spunky, a 10-month-old poodle mix, told officials that his dog was in its own yard when Devo, a 2-year-old, black and white pit bull, attacked.

Gotta side with the poodle owner on this one. I would have shot the damn pit bull.

All dogs from the smallest to the largest should be on a leash no longer than 6 feet long and controlled by the owner at all times when outside of the house and a secure fenced yard.
That’s already an almost universal law/ordinance.

This is the reason that lifting the tax stamp requirement for an effective silencer is so important for city and suburban dwellers. A 22 cal automatic pistol with a modern silencer allows this to be handled humanely and privately. Same for Coyotes, Raccoons attacking dogs, snakes, etc.

Anytime an animal comes onto your property, assuming it is fenced, it becomes fair game. I prefer my bow as they’re got a problem with firearms being discharged within the city limits. Had to deal with a neighbor’s terrier coming after my hens. No muss, no fuss, no police. Just invited him over for a neighborly chat and no problem since.

Now the foxes are an entirely different matter.

I was walking through the parking lot at the beach this morning, and a medium sized dog rushed at me and bit at my leg. I pulled back and he only got clothing in his bite.

I walk there almost daily. The dogs are supposed to be on leashes. This guy was not holding on carefully enough to restrain his dog before it reached me.

I yelled at the owner to get the animal out of the area, since obviously it is not well enough trained, and he is not careful enough with it.

The guy was upset with me for telling him to get his animal out of the public area.

I am not afraid, but I am concerned if an animal would bite me, he could do the same with a small child. And of course with an owner unable/unwilling to restrain the animal they have no business in such a public place.

The owner happened to be Asian. By the time he was leaving, I had made no reference to race whatsoever.

But he did. He called me “something bleep American.”

I bring pepper spray and a pocket knife on every walk with my dog. I will do anything to protect her, ANYTHING!

That Pit would have been put down by the authorities, why charge the heartbroken owner of the dead dog for doing what was going to happen anyway at a fraction of the cost of Gubermint getting involved.

Probably the owner, and not the dog, that needed shooting.

He probably slit its throat while trying to get it to release its grip on his dog’s throat.

“Poodle owner accused of slitting pit bull’s throat after dog fight”

Is a lion killing a gazelle considered a “fight”?

I am siding with the poodle owner on this one. The accused can claim self defense and probably would win if it went to trial. The accused could also file a civil lawsuit against the pit bull owner for loss of property.

I had a deal with one of my neighbors: if one of his dogs hurts anyone in my family...

He sold and moved away.

I carry a pit bull tactical knife for this purpose.

I’d have killed it.
