President Barack Obama and Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe laid wreaths aboard the Arizona Memorial to honor those killed in the Dec. 7, 1941 attack on Pearl Harbor.
It was the first visit by a Japanese leader to the memorial.
The two leaders said nothing during their brief visit.

Hugh the Scot to David Nakamura: Shut up,stupid.
No jap should should ever be allowed anywhere near Pearl Harbor.
Nisei excepted, of course, but barely.
Agree. He should have waited a year.
I also think we need to rethink the collective guilt over internment camps for the Japanese here. If they followed Shintoism, they believed the Emperor was god. Not having tens of thousands of potential subversive elements running around during war time was a necessary step. We should consider it well in the future.
Obola isn't on a vacation in Hawaii on Dec. 7th.
Keep in mind he is the laziest Pres in history about to be surpassed by the hardest working in history.
The contrast will be surreal.
I half expected him to apologize for the shooting down of the attacking air planes and the sinking of the submarine on that day of infamy.
(not really but what a great visual, eh?)
No, not a good visual at all........Why would you even say such a disgusting thing??????
Japan happens to be one of our best allies and we're joined at the hip in both technology and commerce.
Frankly, I don’t like these years-later, generations-later “apologies” (yes, I realize Abe didn’t officially apologize, but the theme of the visit was the same). War is war, and it’s fought in the time it’s fought — why would anyone 50, 100, 1000 years later presume to apologize for those who did it? Am I wrong? IDK, I just see it like “reparations”.
I love Japan and the Japanese people. The Japan of today has nothing to do with Imperial Japan just as the American people of today have nothing to do with slavery.
Having said that I didn’t watch today’s ceremony as I refuse to watch or listen to the worst President in American history, the traitor Barack Hussein Obama.
You would have a coronary during RIMPAC exercises. Japanese submarine and surface warships come streaming into the harbor. Their sailors proudly line the decks in white ubiforms.
That's just infantile; if there's a single example of a self-centered culture being irrevocably smashed beyond recovery by a superior culture in the history of this world, Japan is it.
yes , I have to admit , I tend to love the Japanese of today also . Especially cute Japanese ladies . I meet Japanese every day in the course of my work . They are always polite and easy going . What a change from the banzai killers of yesteryear ....I am learning to speak a little Japanese . They love that
I am quite pleased that the Japanese are our allies now. The US never faced tougher individual foes. As far as apologies go, meh, Abe didn’t attack us nor did any current Japanese official. Save the apologies for the bedwetters of the left.
I’d be very reassured in battle if the Japanese were guarding my flank. Put the Israelis on the other side. We’d be invinceable.
All Obama would have wanted to say is, "They had it coming."
Amen! I'd be glad to know they were fighting with us.
It was a sneak attack to be sure. But, the attack was to follow after Japan’s declaration of war on the US.
Ditto
Yep
“Keep in mind he is the laziest Pres in history about to be surpassed by the hardest working in history.”
There have been some incredibly hard working Presidents.
Washington - Everything he did set a precedent. He recognized the issue and rose to the challenge. No doubt he agonized over every decision.
Madison - fought a war on US soil.
Polk - destroyed his health in 4 years. Mexican War and huge stress due to political intrigue.
Lincoln - Civil War. Another who destroyed his health working nearly 24/7.
Roosevelt - Great Depression followed by global war. The stress of the job no doubt cut his life short.
Johnson - Civil Rights, Great Society, and Vietnam. Another one who lost years of life due to the stress.
Nixon - Vietnam War diplomacy, nuclear treaties with Russian, opening China, impeachment by an incredibly hostile Congress aided by the national media. One of the hardest working presidents.
However, hard work does not necessarily translate to success as Johnson and Nixon prove.
Calling Trump the hardest working president before he is inaugurated is like awarding Obama a Nobel Peace prize at the beginning of his first term. Let’s see what happens.
The Joint Base Ceremony on C-SPAN was lovely.
A beautiful tribute. Fitting. God Bless America.
I’m sure their Chinese and Korean comfort women - of which the japs have never admitted - would be glad to hear you say that that to them.
And them coming in in their dress whites, isn’t that just special.
