Pardon the interruption: Clinton allegation may force Obama to act; Clinton to admit
The Hill ^ | December 27, 2016 | David Weisberg

Executive orders barring offshore drilling in most U.S. Arctic waters; an abstention at the U.N. permitting the Security Council to declare all Israeli settlement activity to be illegal and an obstacle to peace; the possibility of further action at the U.N. to formalize the administration’s comprehensive vision of a two-state solution to the Israeli/Palestinian conflict—Pres. Obama is sprinting, not jogging, to the finish-line.

In dashing through his last few weeks in office, will one of Pres. Obama’s final acts be to pardon Hillary Clinton for any violations of federal law she might have committed while she was secretary of state?

The acts only have had to be committed.

If the new adm. even gets the people around her and manages to convict and get stiff penalties/jail time this will somewhat remedy the bad precedent of highly sophisticated criminals running the country and debasing the people and its laws. It will be a warning shot to future politically empowered criminals and tyrants that we will get your assistants.

What I said was Nixon was formally accused by congress of Obstruction of Justice.

I don't think he was charged but certainly was threatened by James Baker.

“The only way Congress can formally accuse a President is by impeachment.”

Ah.. I think I see where you are going with this. No, Nixon wasn’t impeached. He resigned before the articles of impeachment could go before the full house for a vote.

What came out of committee was a recommendation to impeach. Once Nixon resigned, the impeachment went away. But that didn’t stop the potential of a criminal investigation into Nixon’s actions for obstruction. That’s why Ford pardoned Nixon. Had nothing to do with the impeachment.

Hopefully someone will settle this issue for us.

You can actually do better han a pardon if you have a guarantee of non prosecution which is actually what Nixon had. No law was involved, just a behind the door agreement.

Real quick on Hillary. Since the FBI or any police organization is not looking at pressing any charges against Clinton, there is nothing to pardon her for. As far as they are concerned, she hasn’t committed any crimes to be pardoned for.

Even if Obama pardons Hillary, or she somehow eludes prosecution, Trump should order an immediate review of her security clearances. Based on what she has publicly admitted, she should be stripped permanently of any access to material more secret than a McDonald’s menu. A public announcement of this would beat nothing.

There are some vindictive sorts who won’t agree with
you. I am not one of those. I totally concur. However,
my impossible pipe dream would be to extract a solid
agreement with Clinton that she never seek or accept
a public office higher than the level of road kill
removal engineer. But, then, who could trust her to
keep her word?

That is a good start, but the list is much longer.

Should Obama issue Hillary a pardon, for which she did not apply, tells us he thinks she’s in trouble.

If she applies for a pardon, then even *she* knows she’s in trouble.

It has been done, but I don’t believe it was challenged.

Trump can’t wait for Obama to recognize a Palestinian State. He needs to announce that any foreign policy moves by Obama will be rescinded by him on Jan 20th, and do not represent the will of the American people

“Nixon was pardoned, without indictment or conviction.”

The pardon was never challenged in court either.

Ford pardoned Nixon precluding prosecution, so there is precedent.============

I don't think that was ever challenged in court and without a ruling, I question its legality. As no one ever pushed the issue, Ford got away with it.

Maybe a legal expert can answer this,if Obama offers Hillary a pardon, she accepts and by doing so admits thereby admitting guilt, that absolves her from prosecution, but does that preclude her from getting Security clearances, since the prosecution would have been for leaving secret, top secret and signal intelligence on an unprotected server?

If he pardons her he sets up all her associates for prosecution because he posits that there is something to pardon her for. That may be worth more than convicting Mrs Bill.

How many people around Nixon actually went to prison? Mitchell, Liddy, Colson. See to it that all of Hillary’s enablers get the full treatment. Huma, Mills, Podesta.

What about Huma. She’s the one that was closest to the crime. Maybe even removing classified markings from emails.
