China resumes ties with Sao Tome in triumph over Taiwan

China and São Tomé and Principe officially resumed diplomatic relations on Monday, in a triumph for Beijing over rival Taiwan after the African island nation abruptly broke away from the self-ruled island last week.

Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi and his counterpart from São Tomé, Urbino Botelho, signed books at a ceremony in front of their flags at the Diaoyutai State Guesthouse in Beijing. Wang said the re-establishment of relations would bring benefits to both countries and that they would hold exchanges in tourism, the media and other areas.

The move is a victory for Beijing, which considers the self-governing island of Taiwan a part of China’s territory and has been outraged by suggestions by President-elect Donald Trump that he could rethink U.S. policy that accepts this. Beijing and Taipei have competed for allies for much of the nearly seven decades since the end of China’s civil war in 1949, when the defeated Nationalist government fled across the Taiwan Strait. …

The whole “triumph over Taiwan” rhetoric comes from the Party, of course. The AP has a Peking-based reporter in Louise Watt; shamelessly so.

Here's hoping that DJT invites the President/Prime Minister of Taiwan to the White House and, during a trip to Japan (for example),pays a visit to Taiwan.

The Butchers of Beijing will *not* tell us who we can,or cannot, talk to.

Tried to do some digging on her but AP has pretty much covered her tracks as far as I can tell. No Bio, resume, credentials other than being in Beijing and somehow now knowing all about Trump’s male sons. Convenient.

On the off chance she has a US passport, I’d put her on the no-fly list and see how that works out for her.

She is disgusting and I can’t say what malady I hope she gets in China.

The “triumph over Taiwan” was because Taiwan wouldn’t pay São Tomé the money they demanded to maintain relations, so Taiwan said “goodbye”.

Haven’t the ChiComs been spreading a lot of, what used to be our, money and ‘advisors’ around in Africa?

Isn’t it special how the left celebrates losses by freedom loving people as triumphs by the enemies of freedom?

No doubt, in the back of the minds of the America-hating left. all terror attacks by ISIS and Al-Qaeda and Iran and Syria and Russia, are celebrated as triumphs by their side too. With their hate rhetoric, liberals are very transparent, and I guess that’s what Obama means when he mentions how his administration has been the most transparent in history. His anti-America actions and words, have been very transparent.

Hmm. All those fighters, missiles, ships, and weapons coming from Sao Tome will be sorely missed. /sarc

A bigger PLA Navy presence there will probably not be welcome by the West.
