Got milk? Twenty-five members of Congress say if it's from soybeans, almond or rice, it should not be labeled as milk.
Rep. Peter Welch (D-Vt.) and Rep. Mike Simpson (R-Idaho), leading the bipartisan charge against fake milk, signed a letter along with other congressional members, asking the U.S. Food and Drug Administration to investigate and take action against manufacturers of milk that doesn't come from cows.

A first world problem even if you can call it that.Or a stupid people problem. The dairy industry argues that they've found consumers who truly believe that soy, almond, coconut milk, etc. has the same nutritional content as cow's milk.

These reps are right, it is misleading and dangerous. I knew a kid who drank almond milk during his childhood and he was nuts as an adult. Thank goodness Congress is on the case.

How bout Congress get the heck out of the way and stop trying to play nanny to everyone.
I guess there probably would be someone out in the world that my think it’s milk, but I’m willing to bet dime to a donut, majority of people know that it’s not real milk, but a milk substitute.
Nanny state politicians....the reason our country is in the shape that it is today.

Someone needs to introduce these congressional dopes to the English language. For example, Merriam-Webster defines the noun "milk" as:
1: a fluid secreted by the mammary glands of females for the nourishment of their young; especially cow's milk used as a food by humans.
2: a liquid resembling milk in appearance...(a) the latex of a plant, (b) the juice of a coconut...and (c) the contents of an unripe kernel of grain.
