The head of the Southern Baptist Convention's public affairs division is apologizing for statements he said were interpreted as criticism against evangelical Christians who voted for Donald Trump. ...however. Russell Moore,... said his pre-election comments ...could have been misinterpreted....
Moore had drawn criticism during the general election for calling Trump support by evangelicals and other conservatives "illogical.".....
...However, white evangelical voters turned out in huge numbers for the Republican nominee, with 80 percent backing Trump over 16 percent for ... Hillary Clinton. ... the highest evangelical vote for any candidate since 2004 when they overwhelmingly supported President George W. Bush.
Several Southern Baptist organizations have called for Moore's office to be defunded in the wake of his comments. One organization, the Louisiana Baptist Convention, recently passed a resolution calling for the group's ties to the ERLC to be reexamined and others have indicated they may soon follow suit.
Moore: 'Sin against my own conscience' -While saying he didn't intend to criticize all Trump voters, Moore said he didn't vote for either candidate.....

Moore's charge over illogical thinking applies most to him. His high and mighty self is illogical in abstaining from voting as an evangelical Christian. That equates to the passive acceptance of a strong possibility that leftist justices would be appointed to scotus. The 'sin against conscience' has become a broad pathetic term to excuse personal prejudices against a candidate. It is untruthful and reeks of selfishness. He and others are abusing the phrase to avoid argument or they are liars. And by its extension this term is being replicated by both party delegates and electors. If an elector or delegate feels so greatly guided by his or her conscious to abstain or change the vote, he should immediately step aside and allow the alternate to take his place.
Wasn’t Moore an open borders advocate - pro illegal immigrant?
Coinciding like my wife’s uncle and cousin. Both ministers and Cruzbots from Iowa they were down in late September because my wife’s grandmother passed. I had to leave the house when they started their Hillary and Trump were the same crap.
Cut Nashville off of money and then here them beg.
Apologizing for how others interpret your words is how liberals do it.
If he is really sorry, then he will resign. Then I can forgive him.
He saw the light?

Got a relative that espoused similar. Good grief, I told him, you ARE going to get one or the other; CHOOSE.
“And by its extension this term is being replicated by both party delegates and electors.”
Sure, your “conscience” can apparently shield you from anything, except actual matters of conscience that are caused by your religious beliefs, like not performing or subsidizing abortions. Then if you try to claim it’s a matter of conscience, the force of government must be used to punish you.
He saw the tithes going elsewhere
I notes early stereotyping of Trump by my Southern Baptists friends. I am not sure how it got started. But faced with the satanic hillary they quietly joined the Trump movement. It was weird. Some of their leaders wanted Cruz and some Rubio? actually many of the faithful don’t understand politics very well. they seem to have blinders on and talk about “ American Idle” or “dancing with has beens”. They don’t have a clue about anything but their “church” politics.
But they got on board this time and it was decisive.
Take a look at his wiki page. It’s a tour de force of every liberal position ive ever heard of. Luckily as a Baptist, I can laugh at him and walk away. There is no hierarchy beyond the congregation.
The Baptist headquarters concept is little more than buying sunday school books in bulk and cooperating on missionary work.
But the left, in and out of the church, loves to pretend it speaks with authority. It doesn’t.
He is a big old Democrat!
“In the early 1990s, prior to entering the ministry, Moore was an aide to U.S. Representative Gene Taylor of Mississippi, a Democrat.”
Isn’t Moore the same guy who runs some kind of evangelical pro-immigration group?
The Bible teaches nationalism. In fact, nationalism is the fundamental result of the Babel event, and the reverse of nationalism is what the antichrist will do. Being against nationalism is basically opposing God Himself, and being pro-globalism is to basically be an antichrist.
The nice thing about Baptists, especially Southern Baptists, is that they can make up their own minds about what the Bible teaches.
A church can disfellowship a member, or a member can find another church. Heck, Jiimmy Carter went and founded his own denomination.
Altough doctrine is pretty conservative, overall
I went to his Wiki page and it looks like he’s pretty solid theologically and that politically the only real place I disagree (strongly) is his immigration and resettlement positions. Does he show a liberal or anti-biblical bias in any other areas? I ask because our church is considering partnering and becoming part of the SBC.
He’s a fraud, faux-conservative, former democrat staffer: Russell Moore Called Open Border Zealot, Soros Connections Examined BY JD HALL · JANUARY 26, 2016
Julia Hann correctly classified Russell Moores immigration views for the publication named after the late Andrew Breitbart.
NRs effort to take down GOP frontrunner Donald Trump has been billed as a symposium of conservatives against Trump. However, that’s undermined by the discovery that several of the contributors NR relied upon to pen their anti-Trump manifesto are supporters of the open borders immigration agenda, which NR itself previously declared would bring about the end American conservatism.
Of course, an end to true conservatism is very likely what the former Democratic staffer, Russell Moore, wants. One would be hard pressed to find an issue on which Moore could rightly be classified as conservative. Even his stance on life has been cloaked in so much nuance and ecumenicalism that his hire of Karen Swallow calling abortion murder is unchristlike Prior as an ERLC research fellow seems right in line with his ideology. Abortion is certainly Moores strongest (and perhaps only) claim to conservatism, but given ERLC representatives like Prior are defending Planned Parenthood from accusations of murder, any estimation of Moore as a conservatism must be made on the grounds of his denominational affiliation alone.
The Breitbart article also points out Russell Moores connections to George Soros ...by serving on his immigration panel. [and] the Evangelical Immigration Table [EIT] ran a $250,000 advertising campaign in favor of Sen. Marco Rubio s Gang of Eight immigration bill. Even NR reported at the time, The EIT is a project of the National Immigration Forum, which ... receives a substantial portion of its funding from groups backed by George Soros.
Sooner or later, folks will wake up and realize the SBC ethics guru is still behaving like a Democratic staffer.
In retrospect, Jimmy Carter wasn’t an evil America hating atheist gay moslem president. His policies were quite wrong, and he wasn’t up to the job, but he was a saint compared to the last 8 years of hell.
Can anyone imagine Jimmy Carter back in the 70s hanging condoms on a Christmas tree? Or having students with sex toys visit the white house and making a big joke about it?
Also, I don’t remember Carters humor always 100% of the time making others the butt of his jokes.
And I can make a reasonable case that Rosalyn was the only sane first lady since about 1970.
I never thought id see the day when Carter looked so good.
You got that straight, he’s a liberal fraud that deserves to be ousted, asap!

Jimmy is still up there with FDR, WW, LBJ, and Obama. But he might well be a Christian, albeit a very missguided one.
