“Transgender” is a psychiatric disorder just as surely as is schizophrenia.

Mental disorders do not have civil rights. Nor should we confuse conservatism with libertarianism; conservatism recognizes natural law. Additionally, while it might be a libertarian position to allow someone to call themselves whatever they want, it is not a libertarian position to force me or others to go along with it.

A friend’s daughter/son is transgender and never had a problem with public bathrooms as an adult. Just uses the stall with the door. If there is only one, he just waits until one is available.

Wow; and we had so-called “conservative case(s)” for homosexual marriage also. Amazing how one can dream up a “conservative case” against conservatism and civil society each step of the way.

“Transgender” people have rights — the exact same rights that everyone else has. They don’t get special rights. If someone beats up a transgender person on the street, the police will arrest the perpetrator for assault. If someone steals money from a transgender person, the police will arrest the perpetrator for theft. If someone kills a transgender person, the police will arrest the perpetrator for murder. I am so sick of these groups claiming that they don’t have “rights.”

Sadly, it was way back in the 70’s when the American Psychiatric Association redefined ‘homosexual’ as a ‘variation on normal’. I have always wondered why they did that. It is becoming more and more apparent. To normalize aberrant behavior is to excuse what your friends are doing. I heard yesterday about two lesbian psychiatrists who are trying to get Obama to order a mental evaluation of Trump. So, now I get it. The American Psychiatric Association, probably long ago, has been taken over by those who would redefine themselves as ‘normal’, flying in the face of psychiatric analyses for a few hundred years. Got it!

o conservatives have to ask, is it a good idea to empower the government to start lifting up people’s skirts?

The National Review misses the point. By the new laws, a 'transgender' can walk into the female restroom dressed exactly like any male dresses day by day throughout the USA.

There is no law that says they have to be wearing a skirt.

Sorry. But when transgenders seek to intrude on my space, the privacy of a bathroom in this case, they become problematic. Given the prime role communal bathrooms have played in homosexuality, it is not surprising that they are now demanding access to whatever bathroom they fancy. Sick and mutant people should not be patronized in any way.

My main problem with the idea that “any transgender” person can use the opposite bathroom is that if they are actually predators or acting creepily, no one in authority will want to kick them out because they could get sued by the ACLU for a violation of their civil rights.

If there is a standard of proof that they actually are TG, then there is clarity. If a person has to show a doctor’s certificate or changed driver’s license, then it is clear that they are really a TG person and not just some predator claimimg to be the opposite sex.

Plus, I do not like the idea of young men in the young women’s locker room. If the young men were really young women in the wrong body, they would understand why.

Why did so many conservatives fail to fight on the transvestite issue that we get pieces like this?

“Allowing mixed-biological-sex bathrooms risks making adults uncomfortable, and risks opening the door to child predators, or so the argument goes. I’m afraid neither of those positions strikes me as well thought-out. Certainly not from a conservative point of view.”

That’s because it isn’t allowing, it’s about FORCING private businesses to allow men into the women’s sex-exclusive areas on their properties, despite what they or their customers want. I mean how friggen’ hard is to understand?!

That is what the Charlotte ordinance did—FORCED private business owners to let men use the women’s facilities on their property. The NC state law gave the choice BACK to business owners!! Trump and Target can allow all the men they want into the women’s bathrooms and changing areas on their NC properties! Just call up a NC Target and ask them if they let men into the women’s bathroom if the man thinks he is a woman.

Yeah yeah yeah,,,the problem is that its NOT live and let live. The problem is that some progressive bastion is going to mandate that you MUST accommodate crossdressers in your bathrooms, whether you want to or not just cuz THEY say so.

So any bill is a proactive measure to stop such crap.

THATS what happened in NC when Charlotte passed their stupid ordinance and the state had to step in and tell them no. Then we get all kinds of grief and rashers of sh1t over it.
EFF these people.

transgender rights — which ought to be a conservative issue. On the American political spectrum, conservatism is the mind-your-own-business ideology.

Opening women’s bathrooms and locker rooms to men is not conservative. It’s a violation of privacy and it entails too much risk for females. It is liberal-tarian social ideology.

On the other hand, I don’t care if men think they are women and vice versa. That is their business; just don’t impose the mental illness on me.
