McConnell: ‘I didn’t think President Trump had a chance of winning’ (interesting admissions)

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell was surprised on election night: He didn’t see President-elect Donald Trump winning or the Senate staying in Republican hands.

“I honestly thought we wouldn’t hold the U.S. Senate,” the Kentucky Republican told Kentucky Educational Television’s ... “I thought we’d come up short, and I didn’t think President Trump had a chance of winning.”

The Senate victories were “really something,” McConnell said, “but it never occurred to me he (Trump) might be able to win as well.” ...

“It was a lot of feeling among just ordinary people...that the current administration didn’t care about them,” he said, “and Trump was able to convey, ...a message from a billionaire who lives in Manhattan a genuine concern (to those) who feel kind of left out.”

Many of us had for months claimed that his victory was a sure thing and were roundly laughed at because of that.

A good part of that was simply ignoring the poll *results*, and looking instead at their internals. Then, mentally adjusting the skewed results by how skewed the D+x was (D+8, D+12, D+whatever).

McConnell and Paul Ryan need to go. There were leaked emails to the effect both got money (I think from the Clinton Foundation, can’t remember) to see things he ways the Dems wanted them.

Most conservatives don’t want our elected officials to “care about us”’, but do your job. Keep us safe and leave us alone. Your job isn’t to feed, cloth and house us. Churches in the community once had the job of caring for the poor but congress took it from us .Just go away, do your real job and leave states, cities and communities alone.

In spite of public opinion, representatives continue to elect McConnell, Ryan and don’t forget Merkel elected by reps, not voters.

Mitch spoke of “just ordinary people” not feeling cared about.
No, Miatch, it’s a tsunami of Americans at all levels knowing they get screwed by YOU.

I read somewhere that Ryan was paid by Hillary to recind an invitation for Trump to speak at one of his events.

If this is true he should resign.

The people want government to be very different. So be different. Get things done. Push through the barriers.

That's cute, but we're talking the Republicrat party, here, right? The one that only knows how to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory? The same party that worked hand in hand with obunghole and his minions?

If that was McConnell's conclusion, then he is not smart enough, nor in touch enough, with citizens to the degree necessary to be the Senate Leader on policy issues related to America's affairs and its security!

“A billionaire who lives in Manhattan...”

Well, D’uh! - only thing is, Mitch - this billionaire for all his life gets out among the workers, on the job, treats them with respect, because he knows he must rely on them. He’s down there in the ditches with them.

Now compare that to Bloomberg or John Kerry or ManBearPig

McConnell should not be attacked for exemplifying what probably most Trump supporters believed as well.

A part of being a "leader" is separating your actions from your own thought of how things might turn out.

McConnell, as the Republican leader in the Senate, should have acted with a confidence that Trump would win, despite his feeling that Trump would not win. Optimism is contagious, but so is defeatism. McConnell is a defeatist by nature, and therefore looks for reasons to not even try. He would rather make a deal that, in his mind, minimizes the loss.

Imagine what might-have-been had McConnell chosen to stand up for Christine O'Donnell in 2010 or Todd Akin and Richard Mourdock in 2012 instead of turning his back and running for the door.

Also having the belief that the Fake News sources were totally wrong and blundering hugely. When everything they tried against him blew up in their faces and increased his support, I knew that they were clueless as how to bring down a man not afraid of them and therefore powerless to control events.

This is the reason why he has been totally ineffectual as Senate Majority leader. Incompetent buffoon!

“No mention of 0bama. He is still president for another month. I think it’s fascinating.”

Barry has been mostly phoning in his Presidency. He’s going to coast on out in ONE MONTH.
