Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell was surprised on election night: He didnt see President-elect Donald Trump winning or the Senate staying in Republican hands.
I honestly thought we wouldnt hold the U.S. Senate, the Kentucky Republican told Kentucky Educational Televisions ... I thought wed come up short, and I didnt think President Trump had a chance of winning.
The Senate victories were really something, McConnell said, but it never occurred to me he (Trump) might be able to win as well. ...
It was a lot of feeling among just ordinary people...that the current administration didnt care about them, he said, and Trump was able to convey, ...a message from a billionaire who lives in Manhattan a genuine concern (to those) who feel kind of left out.

McConnell the defeatist on election eve.
The people in the beltway listen to their own spin.
Yeah...just like you did not think you could fight Obammy
Not President-Elect??
I was listening to the radio news this morning and the story was how Donald Trump was in contact with Angela Merkel. No mention of 0bama. He is still president for another month. I think it’s fascinating.
Someone who doesn’t believe his team will win has no business being its leader.
Here’s the lesson: RIDE THE WAVE
The people want government to be very different. So be different. Get things done. Push through the barriers.
They live in a bubble.
...that’s because you actually believed your own bullchit McAzzhole
translation: Mr. President, PLEASE don’t come to Kentucky and campaign for my primary opponent!
Because he knows that he talked a big talk then kissed Obama’s behind at every opportunity.
Mitch should stop drinking the Liberal Kool-Aid . The green Kool-Aid is for Alien Mind Control
He needs to start listening to the American people instead of the #fakenews national “media”.
Bad for a leader to not understand what the people want!
It’s OK. Trump was also concerned on election day
Mitch is a coward with his head up his a$$.... So is Lindsey. McCain is demented.
Bring on term limits!
mcconnell is an absolute putz.
Of curse he felt this way. Mitch McConnell is one of the GOPE who has continually promised one thing to his constituency, and then not deleivered. He, like Boehner, needs to go.
And IMHO, the sooner the better. Replace him with a non-establishment, Tea Party type conservative in Kentucky, and then fill his leadership position with someone of a similar ilk who is more senior.
That is what needs to happen with him. He will tyrn which every way the liberal weather vane blows...and right now we need strong, steady leadership in the Senate and the House behind Trump.
“No one I know voted for him”
He should be thankful every day of the Trump administration that he didn’t have to move to the small office in the back of the minority party
