President Barack Obama has pardoned 78 people and shortened the sentence of 153 others convicted of federal crimes, the greatest number of individual clemencies in a single day by any president, the White House said Monday.
Obama has been granting commutations at rapid-fire pace in his final months in office, but he has focused primarily on shortening sentences of those convicted of drug offenses rather than giving pardons.
A pardon amounts to forgiveness of a crime that removes restrictions on the right to vote, hold state or local office, or sit on a jury. The pardon also lessens the stigma arising from the conviction. The pardons issued Monday were for a wide range of offenses, such as possession of counterfeit currency, felon in possession of a firearm and involuntary manslaughter. …

Eric Holder, who arranged the Marc Rich pardon sale for Bill Clinton, has been called in by Obama to line up some deals for him.
Because Holder had a specialty of working for jihadis as a civilian attorney, he will probably work a few of them into the crowd getting midnight pardons and communtations. They have the money to pay big as well.

Guarantee you, most of these pardonees will wind up back in prison.

The Associated Press never informs its readers that 96% of Federal inmates plead guilty to a lesser charge.
In other words, almost all these “drug” cases involved a more serious felony that disappeared after they agreed to plead guilty.
As much as I don’t like this, it’s nothing compared to the hundreds of thousands of terrorists that have been granted refugee status. Can’t deport them, eh? Just wait until they start magically disappearing from communities.
That’s always how felonies work unless it has a large public/media interest. Even then, how many times do courts go easy on them and give the finger to the citizens demanding to know why? It’s pretty sad.

Anyone know the recidivism rate so far on his pardons and commutations? With this big a denominator it should be statistically tracked and placed in context. Along with the rates of same with his Gitmo releases and the rates of new crime in his refugee and illegal entrants.
