(CNN)The "angry black woman" label that Michelle Obama has been tagged with by some is a caricature rooted in other people's fears, the first lady said in an interview airing Monday. Speaking with Oprah Winfrey, Obama said she was taken aback when the insulting description of her first took hold while her husband was running for president eight years ago. "That was one of those things that you just sort of think, dang, you don't even know me, you know?" she told Winfrey. "You just sort of feel like, Wow, where did that come from?"

How would "she" know? She may be angry, she may be black, but "she's" NO woman (Michael Robinson).
Yes, it is going to be interesting to see how her “look” changes when no one has incentive to try to sell her as something she isn’t.

All I know is that this government (taxpayers) have spent a huge amount of money on her looks these past 8 years. I don’t think even a pauper millionaire like Obama is with his fake book deals could afford it.
SHE won’t get that budget she had in the WH.

She, well her chompers, does remind me of the iconic “Bat Boy” from the Weekly World News.
Not rooted in fear but her own racism and sense of victimhood. I never thought of her as an “angry black woman”— just as a scold that I would do my best to avoid if we were coworkers. I started referring to her as “America’s Unhappiest Millionaire” early on and she did nothing to change my mind. Another FReeper made the observation “she’s a long night” and I could not see anyone but miserable people wanting to be around her.
She’s angry, but she ain’t no woman.
Maybe Michelle can explain what’s behind the “angry White male” charge.
I’m pretty sure the “angry black woman” label came about by people looking at her face. She always seems to be angry. I don’t know if she is; but, her face always looks that way.
Yeah...fear of the fat sow hurting your wife, your kids, YOU...because you don’t dare lift a finger to stop her unless you’re a cop. Isn’t racial equality just a wonderful thing?
You’re right. All the money we spent and I don’t think I saw her wear more than a half dozen outfits that showed any class. All the rest looked like what I could have picked up at the local thrift store. Would have saved us a bundle, too.
I suspect that, without the expensive props, her look will degrade from this point on. I can’t wait to see the unpolished version.
