And now an elector votes for, say, Mickey Mouse, from a state that met its December 13 deadline. According to the law, this vote for Mickey Mouse is CONCLUSIVE as a matter of federal statutory law. CONCLUSIVE means, not to be questioned. And I just use Mickey Mouse as an extreme example. What if the elector votes for himself. or Bernie Sanders, or any other living breathing human being.
I mean, if electors are free to do as they will, what is the point of the safe harbor law?
Not a good thing to do. It is not good to have a historical reference which is parallel to Benedict Arnold. Think before you act.

Can you post that here:

And include a link to where you got the info (or if you heard on TV or radio).
No President-elect needs to earn any vote of the electors. The electors are to vote the way their state voters made a decision. How this man came to think that HE was the one voting of his own volition is beyond understanding. The word selfish or self-centered doesn't indicate the magnitude of this problem.
This guy’s forgotten the First Rule of Holes.
In a few hours, this will be much to do about nothing. This guy will be forever sealed in history as a traitor to those that believed in him. He’s become revealed as a fraud on many levels.
I’ve predicted that at least one person that was supposed to vote Hillary would support Bernie. And so it appears to be unfolding in Maine.
All said and done, it’ll probably just be these two that want to make a statement, name for themselves.
Isn’t that the process Cruz was screwing around with?
While I’m sure there is some overlap in the groups, I think Cruz and neverTrumpers were hoping that delegates to the RNC convention would become ‘faithless’.
I also assume that since being a delegate to the convention is a lot more ‘fun’, and gives an opportunity to rub elbows with important people, it is very competitive to become one...while apparently being an elector is usually an invisible job at the local statehouse, and a con man can find a slot to fill.
Good for you, wneighbor!!
I admit I don’t know much about this process (electing the electors). I appreciate your activism.
EVERYONE in TX should make the same calls, that you have, to the TX GOPe...for WHATEVER it is worth.
Thanks for straightening that out. I remember now that he was working on the delegates.
Since being a convention delegate involves shelling out thousands of dollars, $5000 or more, and a week or more of time, it is less competitive than one might imagine to become what is basically an extra on a TV show.
Next cycle, more states are likely to follow the lead of Kansas and New York by appointing electors who are already high-profile political figures used to being ‘pressured’.
This is just about elector Chris Suprun getting publicity and facetime on networks such as this CNN appearance. Elector Chris Suprun is a nobody using his position as Elector to gain fame and publicity. He was even asked to write a NYT op-ed. He is just using his elector status to get his 15 minutes of fame. He is a nobody with no Honor.
Good for you for trying! We, the people, simply have no voice or clout where the machinery of government is concerned. We can only hope that his vote won’t mean much and he gets ridden out of town on a rail afterward!
He’s stupid...and you know you can’t cure stupid!
Why is this charlatan still bleating his peculiar brand of nonsense as a putatively Republican elector from Texas?
The mans entire life is a lie
I think he was actually elected to his position in May, as part of the Texas state party convention.
Nice job of vetting this idiot by the State GOP.
It's a very solemn process...and very satisfying and uplifting to watch.
Mr. Faithless Elector (I don't even want to use his name) is the proverbial you-know-what in the punchbowl. He is a man who will live in infamy after his moments in the fawning media come to an abrupt end.
Leni
He’s a professional con man. I’m not at all surprised he fooled the local GOP.
Well, I don't know enough either :)
But I've been so angry reading about that guy and the nonsense he's spouted I just started looking up numbers and calling. I probably sounded off my rocker as I knocked my head and got a bad concussion 2 weeks ago. I was laid up till this past Friday and was stewing so I googled numbers at the Secretary of States Election office then the Texas GOP and just kept calling.
I tried to make a post about it on our FR Texas board but was so muddled from the concussion I couldn't string the sentences together in typing on my phone. But i was darned sure able to talk on the phone and say what I thought.
Apparantly our Electors are chosen before the election and they are set in stone unless they recuse themselves. Honestly I don't know if that's the case or if it's the GOPe line. But I'm still angry and embarrassed that this went on in Texas.
I resolve to learn more about the process.
Merry Christmas, neighbor 🎄
