Donald Trump is still a month away from the White House, but the president-elect is only ramping up his rhetoric against China.
Trump took to Twitter on early Saturday morning to lash out at the country for seizing a US Navy drone two days ago in the South China Sea.
'China steals United States Navy research drone in international waters - rips it out of water and takes it to China in unpresidented (sic) act,' Trump wrote in a misspelled tweet.
Trump's criticism came just hours after a Chinese official said the country was in talks with the American military for a 'smooth resolution' over the drone. The capture - the first of its kind in recent memory - took place on December 15 just as the USNS Bowditch, an American oceanographic survey ship, was about to retrieve the unmanned underwater glider.
US officials issued a formal diplomatic complaint over the seizure and demanded the return of the $150,000 drone, which was collecting unclassified scientific data.
'It is ours. It's clearly marked as ours,' Navy Capt Jeff Davis said on Friday.
'We would like it back, and we would like this not to happen again.'
China said Saturday that its military was in contact with its American counterparts on 'appropriately handling' the seizure, one of the most serious incidents between the two militaries in years.

Liberals are having a field day with Trump's spelling error of "unpresidented."
Conspiracy theory: Could Trump have deliberately spelled it that way as a knock on Obama? Although, he and Obama seem to be getting along pretty well.
Trump has occasionally had a misspelling in a Tweet, and he often deletes and reposts. We'll see.
Anyway, what China did was unprecedented. The Chinese aren't too happy with Trump:
'Provoking friction and messing up China-US relations won't help 'make America great again',' a front-page opinion piece in China's People's Daily said. The newspaper is a mouthpiece for the country's Communist Party.
The nationalist Global Times newspaper's Chinese edition also ran a page-one story on Trump's 'inability to keep his mouth shut', damning his 'provocation and falsehoods'.
Trump won't back down, though. No service stairs for Air Force 1 when he's President.
He should have typed it in Austrian.
Immediately what I thought. An absent President, leaving on a seventeen day vacation with little or not attention to the matter.
Was it truly a misspelling, or was Trump accurate in his assessment?
Right now, Obama is now not only more incompetent than ever, no one of any importance now cares what he has to say. So in a sense, until Jan 20, we don’t have a President. As such, we are un-Presidented.

I think it’s a clever way to slam Obama. He is, at this point, unpresidented. Obama is the Duncel of space cadets on the left.
After all, he did send a strongly worded letter.

He's already corrected it and yes, the two are cordial with each other. Obama these days seems more pissed at Hillary for losing than Trump for winning.
