Evolutionists Couldn’t Have Been More Wrong About Antibiotic Resistance

Dec. 15, 2016

A colony of bacteria similar to the one analyzed in the study being discussed. (click for credit) A colony of bacteria similar to the one analyzed in the study being discussed. (click for credit) Back when I went to university, I was taught (as definitive fact) that bacteria evolved resistance to antibiotics as a result of the production of antibiotics. This was, of course, undeniable evidence for the fact that new genes can arise through a process of mutation and natural selection. Like most evolution-inspired ideas, however, the more we learned about antibiotic resistance in bacteria, the more we learned that there was a problem.

You seem to be alluding to my “freedom to remain unconvinced” as being dependent on some implied risk that I will become infected. But I would remind you that our discussion is in the theoretical realm. Surely you understand what I mean.

“Your assumption that mutations occur at a single locus is incorrect.”

The way I understand it, any given single change which theoretically contributes to the evolutionary process occurs at a single locus.

“The closer they are and appear the closer their genomes tend to be.”

This favors neither evolution nor creation over the other.

No. I’m pointing out that when you or a loved one get an antibiotic resistant bug your tune WILL change. But hopefully you won’t, because antibiotic resistant bugs really suck. YOU might have been discussing in the theoretical realm. I was discussing the cold hard REALITY that antibiotic resistant bugs are out there RIGHT NOW, gaining more prevalence every generation, and are on the path to making our antibiotics useless in our life time. I understand you’re full of crap, is that close enough?

“but it is a start”

This is a very telling phrase in your commentary. It illustrates something important, nothing wrong with it, we all do it no matter what side we’re on. But what it illustrates is the presence of an agenda. And our agenda is to justify our first premise. For people like me, that first premise is “In the beginning, God.” For others, it’s belief in naturalism. And our first premise is never derived from intellectual analysis but always from desire.

I point this out for the purpose of stating my view that it’s important we all acknowledge Sir Francis Bacon was right when he said “Man prefers to believe what he prefers to be true.”

“It seems to me that creation would result in relatively few highly distinct species.”

I’m confident you are more than able to understand 1) the impossibility in presuming to know why God would do things, and from there 2) the futility in forming a description of reality based on what you think God was thinking.

I’ll say it again. Every time the media comes out with another story about “superbugs” or “antibiotic-resistant, flesh-eating bacteria” it always gives the appearance of being hype, fear tactics and propaganda.

So what I’m saying is the media hypes things. I never said antibiotic resistance isn’t a real medical problem.

And if your basic agenda is to somehow save the media (or the democrat party) from its current self-induced demise, you might want to save your efforts for something less improbable.

“More “settled science” going by the wayside.”

That is what happens unless the liberals and some on the right try to say the science is settled.

As for your request that creationists provide evidence for creation:

If God exists, everything is evidence of his existence.

Especially since evolution has nothing whatsoever to do with science.

I don’t giving a flying expletive deleted about media hype. Antibiotic resistant bugs are a clear and present danger to our world, within our lifetime they WILL render ALL of our antibiotics USELESS. That ain’t hype, that ain’t agenda, that is the plain simple reality of the situation whether you’re smart enough to believe it or not.

Are you willing to stand by your assertions and to take accountability for them?

It’s not like it’s physically possible for there to be any consequences. This is one of those things that’s just happening, nothing we can do to stop it. But the world is going to be a lot less fun when antibiotics don’t work anymore, a whole bunch of minor illnesses are about to be potentially fatal again.

Please, stop thinking about physical consequences. I’m asking about intellectual accountability. And of course moral.

Are you willing to take accountability for your comments?

Care to explain that reasoning? Sounds like a non sequitur.
It’s like saying dentistry has nothing to do with teeth.

There has been no data gathered anywhere at any time that supports evolution.

Evolution is 19th century folklore.

It is the darling of the willfully ignorant.

Everybody is intellectually accountable. And the moral accountability question really goes to you. Are YOU willing to be held morally accountable for deliberate and willful ignorance?

The fact is thing DO evolve and pretending they don’t does change that. Nature is a CONSTANT arms race. Bacteria ARE getting resistant to our antibiotics. That is a FACT. And it doesn’t stop there. Did you know that most major urban areas are finding that the local rat population is now immune to the most popular and effective poisons... well formerly effective, all the main rat poisons are basically garbage now. Yep, a few too many survived and now they’re breeding true.

This is how things work on this planet, the system is self adjusting. Darwin thought this was proof of how great God is. Really the only argument in this whole thing comes from one silly group of people that insist the Bible is a science text and any variation must be fought. They locked up Galileo, they deny evolution, and they’re frankly sad. They’re the ones facing all the consequences, because they simply refuse to use the brains God gave them.

Species are mutating and natural selection is real. Species are not mutating into other species. Mutating bacteria is NOT, in the long run, going to mutate into a crocodile.

Evolution is silly science.

But they DO. The evidence is there in the fossil record, and in our genes. You can pretend all you want, but it doesn’t make it so. Much like how the stars don’t revolve around the earth no matter how many narrow minded people insisted they did.
