President-elect Trump's daughter, Ivanka, is lobbying Congress ahead of her father's inauguration next month to start working on reforms to childcare policies an issue she championed while on the campaign trail.
The 35-year-old mother of three and business owner has been calling House and Senate lawmakers encouraging them to get moving on legislation, the CEO of Main Street Republican Partnership told IJR on Thursday.
"She's calling some to talk about the child care provisions," Sarah Chamberlain said. "It's gonna be a big issue for her ... I think she's hoping to [play a large role in the administration]."

then picks Pruitt for EPA.
I think I am going to keep my tagline for a very long time!
So what. An EPA director is never going to win political battles against a President’s kids. That’s just human nature. He’s going to side with his kids 100% of the time and that’s why we must not have them making policy in the White House.
Who’s this Sarah of the Main Street Republican Coalition wants a big-government leftist to play a major role in this administration?
Federal anything sucks. A state should be able to enact some of these initiatives. The formative years of a child should be at home though. I am not to keen on her politicking from the Executive Branch.
I agree with the general theme of that article about Nevada, but I'll repeat what I said before: that's Nevada's problem, not anyone else's. There's sometimes a fine line between a "licensed professional" and all the occupations like bricklayers, makeup artists, bus drivers, painters, manicurists and animal trainers that they cite in that article. Interestingly the article seems to be aimed more at the cost of those licensing requirements in Nevada rather than the licensing itself.
Far better to just have lower income tax rates across the board.
Deductions and exemptions take away and work against the incentive we want probably for parents most of all.
Here’s my idea: why not have Ivanka, if she is such a great businesswoman, stay in NY to run the business. She could keep her husband in NY too.
Eric and Don actually sound like conservatives, and I would be happy to have them consulting Trump as most trusted advisors—as, for example, Bill C. had offered a two-fer-one deal, Trump with the advice of his sons wouldn’t be so bad.
Ivanka I don’t want anywhere near policy.
By all accounts, Tiffany is not Daddy’s little girl, but Ivanka is #1 offspring above all.
Because privileged young women tend to be so liberal, I generally feel more comfortable with pols who had sons rather than daughters whom they want to impress.
Trump should listen to and consult with his sons, who sound generally conservative, as opposed to his daughter, who sounds like a run-of-the-mill NYC liberal.
It is becoming clear why she and Chelsea get on like a house on fire.
NOPE. Can’t afford to have kids and can’t care for them don’t have them. It’s not my responsibility to pay for your child care.
So, who has oversight on IVANKA?
Whos this Sarah of the Main Street Republican Coalition wants a big-government leftist to play a major role in this administration?
Its basically the big-business, cheap-labor wing of the Republican Party not the mom-and-pop store owners, the startups, the entrepreneurs, the small-business people, said independent Ron Maxwell, a motion picture director and writer who lives in House Majority Leader Eric Cantors home state of Virginia.

I agree. This is obviously a trial balloon here inserting Ivanka into beltway business for the first time. They are judging how much push back they get. I imagine once Ivanka has her office in the Trump White House she will be “making phone calls” on her other causes like global warming, etc. No thanks.
That is why I don’t think we should be shy about voicing our objections.
It is a very, very bad idea to have her involved in any policy at all—let alone calling congress over it!
if she can stop the disaster of communist core non-academics in all of our schools via Dept. of Labor, HHS and DOE I’ll support her childcare plan if she still wants it after seeing the education disaster firsthand
Affordable child care is usually called Grandma, but sometimes Aunt...
Perhaps employers may wish to provide it at their direct labor cost.
when do those who do not have children get a credit?
pushing special deals/deductions continue the unfairness of the last few decades of “special groups” legislation.
“It is a very, very bad idea to have her involved in any policy at alllet alone calling congress over it!”
Agreed.
yep!
Yes.. this is a taxation issue. A stay at home, mom or dad, should have the same tax deduction as is allowed for daycare. There should be no more taxation/mandates and regulations without representation.
Really, lower tax rates are the best of all.
Give mom and dad incentives to make more money—and simply allow them to keep more of what they earn. (The incentives matter more in the lower tax brackets.)
