In reaction to the news that Facebook is partnering with the Associated Press, ABC News, and Snopes, among other apparent “fact checkers” to tag and weed out “fake news” on the popular social site, Media Research Center President Brent Bozell said Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg assured him that “his express aim is to eliminate only patently false news stories from Facebook.”
“I have been in communication with Mark Zuckerberg at Facebook since he announced their new ‘fake news’ initiative,” said MRC President Bozell in a Dec. 16 statement. “I expressed grave concern with this decision and the liberal ‘fact-checking’ organizations Facebook has chosen.” …

Thanks for clarifying. You’re absolutely right, of course. All purveyors of false news are going to steal the phrase “fake news” to make their lies seem like truth, but the truth will persist in spite of Farcebook and already does so.
Yes, the silver lining is that Zuckerman is leaving a wide opening to competition that does not censor their content.
I have only seen one fake news story (except of course all the stories in the MSM every day), the one about Michael Brown, FBI Agent, Murder/Suicide/Fire in Walkerville, MD, reported in the Denver Guardian, reported about 11/4 or 11/5. Turned out to be a fake paper, only had a few web pages, and no person of that name lived in the town, town spelled wrong, no fire, etc. That was true Fake News.

To the extent that this is real I’m fine with it. Most of my FB friends are on the left and there really is a lot of patently false bs that gets trafficked arouns on both sides, and I get sick of seeing it on my feed.

All of the “fact-checkers” are decidedly left wing. This will morph into blatant censorship of conservative speech in record time.
I thought Bozell had been around for awhile; but according to this article, and the P.T. Barnum maxim about suckers, it would appear that Bozell was born a minute ago.
The amount of news articles being flagged as false is going to be epic.
Zuckerberg stole the Facebook idea. He sells everyone’s information. He works with the democrats to undermine our country and did so to Libya and Egypt. Many have died.

I’m not a lawyer, and I assume Zuckerberg pays the best, still this seems dangerous undertaking.There are legal consequences-even for a private entity.
