The Minnesota football team has announced a boycott of football following the suspension of 10 Gophers after a sexual assault investigation by the school.

According to the Minneapolis Star Tribune, players threatened to boycott the Dec. 27 Holiday Bowl against Washington State in protest of the 10 players being suspended. The team held a players-only meeting and later brought in head coach Tracy Claeys, informing him of their plans. Afterward, they announced the football boycott to reporters.

Here is what we know: the police investigated and found nothing. The school investigated and found ten men guilty of violating its rules regarding sexual conduct, following directives from the Obama Department of Education. The school’s procedures are opaque (hence we don’t know and can’t know much about the incident). The procedures are loose with regard to due process and light with regard to evidence. So, there is little reason to defer to the decision of the school. We also know that the team is backing their teammates.

As far as I concerned, the decision of the team is as credible as that of the school.

Like to add that since the Mizzou players gave their ultimatum last season, they are now 5-12. How many people want that for their team?

Regarding the bowl game: The University should withdraw. In the Duke lacrosse case, the school initially suspended the upcoming two games and then cancelled the remainder of the season. It is not realistic to think you can field a team under these circumstances.

Should there be revocation of scholarship and dismissals of coaches, there will certainly be law suits. The a real court of law, with real due process, will become involved.

True if it’s that bad withdraw...
Don’t show up for your big bowl payday.

I’m sorry, I read the linked article and didn’t see any mention of a payoff. Can you please provide a source link? I did see elsewhere that there was a settlement (no terms were disclosed) that related to a civil restraining order that prohibited the players from being at the stadium. I also read where there is video of the incident which was showed to the police. It was suggested that after they saw it, the police were convinced the activity with the girl was consensual and they dropped the matter.

Last time it was black players vs gutless administrators.

This time it’s players vs feminists. I’m interested to see how this plays out.

Pass the popcorn.

If a drunk woman decides to get into a car and drive, she is deemed to be fully responsible for her decision, regardless of whether she was too drunk to realize that it was a bad choice.

A more pragmatic rule : women, don’t get drunk around men, unless you are ok with any f*cking which subsequently happens. I’m tired of the “I was drunk and he took advantage of me” line.

Agreed. After duke, James Winston, and Virginia, I’m on the players side until proven otherwise.

Just eliminate school sports and teach real subjects.

Nevermind, too much money , gambling and alumni.

Too bad schools don’t emphasize how many students achieve success in their field of study.

I don't know who did what to whom, but these idiots boycotting have no leverage...

Sources: NIU would 'likely play' Holiday Bowl if Minnesota boycotts

The charges were all dropped after a video came out clearly showing consensual.

There is no link because a settlement was never reported.

A few more details on the alleged assault here....

College football notes: Minnesota players boycott activity, possibly bowl

At the very least, the alleged vic needs to sober up, and the alleged perps are degenerates.

Apparently, the victim said some sex was consensual, some not. In any case, if the victim was impaired, consent is still an issue. And if she didn’t consent to the taping, or did while impaired, also an issue. And while the criminal case is toast, these degenerates deserve everything the college throws at them.

Supportive players are mad there has been no Due Process.

There was due process. The Hennepin County DA refused to indict for lack of evidence. The university ignored due process, as they often do in the Obama era.

Are you suggesting that the institution shouldn’t be able to discipline/expell players for participating in, at the very least, a videotaped, alcohol-fueled gang-bang?

The left has shown to have remarkably selective standards towards rape depending on the race of the alleged rapist.

And I am saying alleged.

I am suggesting that we apply the rule of law rather than the rule of PC college administrators.
