A professor at the University of Southern California has barred her students from using the phrase illegal immigrant in their final exam for the class.
Alicia Chavez teaches the American studies course, America, the Frontier and the New West, a course that focuses on the intersecting historical processes and diverse peoples which have shaped the region of the North American West.
According to an email screenshot supplied by a student in the class, despite the class dealing substantially with illegal immigration into the United States, Chavez banned use of the term illegal immigrant on her students upcoming final exam. Instead, students have been ordered to use the term undocumented immigrant or unauthorized entry as a euphemism for such immigrants.

IEBA! IEBA! Andale .. Andale
I know a couple of sticklers for detail who don’t use the phrase “illegal immigrant” because the person has not been tried and convicted yet. I admit that I didn’t read the article, so perhaps the instructor’s motivations might have been listed but the alternatives she provided aren’t the type of politically-correct nonsense that I was expecting. Phrases using “unauthorized” or “undocumented” recognize that a legitimate process exists and implies that unlimited immigration isn’t some type of human right.
I’d put it on there, and if he dinged me I’d file a law suit and own the university.
Wet back was banned. Then illegal alien was banned. And now illegal immigrant has been banned.
She doth protest too much. Sounds like Chavez needs her legal status checked.
Many haven’t been newcomers for years.
non-citizen?
border jumper?
felonious usurper?
prohibited person?
prosecutable foreigner?
alien squatter?
Wet back?
No, not politically descriptive enough.
My advice for her students is to substitute “wetbacks” for “illegal immigrants”.
Perhaps she’d prefer “undocumented invader”?
She sounds like another idiot that shouldn’t be in charge of teaching anything.
