A Clinton campaign aide says that a typo in a March 19 email sent to John Podesta is to blame for opening the campaign chairmans Gmail account up to Russian cyber hackers.
The IT aide, Charles Delavan, tells The New York Times that his error typing the word legitimate instead of illegitimate to describe a hackers email continues to haunt him.
This is a legitimate email, Delavan wrote to Clinton campaign aide Sara Latham after she forwarded him an spear phishing email designed to look like official correspondence from Google.
John needs to change his password immediately, Delavan added, while also providing a link to a Google page that would have allowed Podesta to safely change his email password.

And the braying sheeple Dummycraps on fakebook claim that they are forged emails and not to be trusted anyway. It doesn’t take hacking to forge an email transcript and leak it online.
They need to pick ONE story and hold to it.
Scapegoat.
We all knew communists don’t like to give up power.
But it’s all over in 5 days folks.
2 if you don’t count weekends and today :)
And it happens ON Monday so you can’t count that.
And Friday is considered by some as part of the weekend so it’s only 1 day away :)
The meter on my gaydar is pinned.
The Hillary campaign had a surplus of those, including herself.
No need to read anything that follows ...
@fishstickz? Hmmmmm
That is called a presupposition and it is a technique used in NLP.
Shctick crapitsky aboit Devalen babushka is beeg lai.
Vee in Pododesta long time.
No softinsky phish hack.
DA, hard hack all time!
BuagahhahahabuagHA!
So now the leaker is blaming it on a typing error?
Oh dear.
S/he either resembles someone I know or someone we all know.
WHO?
Podesta might be a Russian operative too. His brother scored big on the uranium deal.
If the DNC is working for the Russians, can it be considered hacking? Or just employee relations?
Despite the Russians clearly not being the source? Why try so hard to divert from the more credible insider reports?
And since his email had the right article for ‘illegitimate’, in ‘an’ as opposed to ‘a’—I think even the typo claim is illegitimate.
But yeah, I can understand the CYA of wanting to be perceived as merely a poor typist after having been exposed to the world as a luaghing stock-level idiot.
If you toss your mail in the street and someone reads it, it must be Russia hacking it.
I kind of suspect that. If you know it is a phishing attack why would you have your boss change his password? He wasn't sure so he provided a good link that the asistant or Podesta didn't use.
They need to put this guy into MSM, where lying and stupidity are highly valued traits.
...and what about this typo?...
This is fake. Proof is that if he intended to type the word “illegitimate” he would have preceeded it with “an” not “a”. More fake news.
