Former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani, a longtime Donald Trump ally, will not be serving in the president-elects administration.
ADVERTISEMENT Giuliani has removed himself from consideration for any position in the new administration, the Trump transition team announced Friday. He was rumored to be in the mix to be secretary of State.
"This is not about me; it is about what is best for the country and the new administration," Giuliani said in a statement. "Before I joined the campaign I was very involved and fulfilled by my work with my law firm and consulting firm, and I will continue that work with even more

I think he is too old & there might be a health concern.
Giuliani was interviewed by Fox News and a little of what he said was...
“The whole thing was becoming very confusing and difficult for the President-elect... “
What did Giuliani mean by this? Why should putting him in a cabinet post, be “very confusing” and “difficult” for Trump?
I like Giuliani a lot, so this is disappointing news.
[He should be SOS]
I’m certain that Trump offered him a top job which he thought was perfect for him and Rudy turned it down, after that refusal what would you expect Trump do, cave in to Rudy?
Not on your life, he moved on.
I remember on Election Night when Trump gave his speech. He was thanking various people, one after another. He said something like,”And now I’d like to thank someone who has been with me from the beginning. He was invaluable. etc. etc”
And then Rudy pushes his way to an area to the left of Mr. Trump. The cameras panned over. The crowd cheered. Trump said something like,”Who is that?...oh it’s the Mayor. (chuckle).” He then went on to recognize Jeff Sessions as the invaluable man.
I thought that moment to be pretty dismissive. From the cheap seats here it seemed that Trump recognized that Rudy was seeking to spotlight. This article comes as no surprise to me.
I think Rudy is just to old to bet jetting around the world living out of a suitcase all the time...
I think his own business is what he loves and doesn’t want to give it up...as an outside adviser, Rudy will be doing what Rudy wants to do...just as Newt doesn’t want to give up what he does...
President Trump needs a younger person, someone that knows a lot about the world and there are many people out there to choose from...and no Rat Romney isn’t one of them...
I have all the faith in the world that when President Trump announces who his SOS is, we will all be happy...
Yup. A position in Trump’s cabinet would exclude Giuliani from being a special prosecutor. You nailed it.
But I’m sure the concern trolls are very concerned...
BtW, +1,000,000,000
Rudy made it clear that he would only accept SoS. Trump in effect replied that nobody dictates cabinet appointments to him. Rudy was not a good fit for SoS. Maybe AG or DHS or a special prosecutor.
Agree with you. I saw him as a great Attorney General.
I heard Rudy on FNFs early on in this process saying he would hate to give up the business he has right now. He sounded happy with his current situation.
SOS is seen as a stepping stone to the Presidency.
They are close friends.
He is one of his inner circle advisors.
No need for the good guys to fall for stupid “oh noes”.
Special Prosecutor
I got a serious feeling you may be right.
It's one of the original cabinet positions. Probably the most high profile. I think Rudy is looking for a legacy assignment something that will let his name be listed with the greats of history. DHS is a bogus cabinet position and should be a subdivision under the attorney general or department of defense.
**** “And then Rudy pushes his way to an area to the left of Mr. Trump” ****
Actually the only thing I saw was Chrisi trying like hell to squeeze in and show a profile that wasn’t round.
Rudy was calm and part of the pack.
“Perhaps Giuliani will actually serve a far greater role in the Trump Administration than a cabinet secretary. “
Special prosecutor against the Clinton Foundation?
He didn’t want the jobs he’d have been a great choice for. He wanted State for some reason. Whatevs, I wish him well.
