Former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani, a longtime Donald Trump ally, will not be serving in the president-elect’s administration.

ADVERTISEMENT Giuliani has removed himself from consideration for any position in the new administration, the Trump transition team announced Friday. He was rumored to be in the mix to be secretary of State.

"This is not about me; it is about what is best for the country and the new administration," Giuliani said in a statement. "Before I joined the campaign I was very involved and fulfilled by my work with my law firm and consulting firm, and I will continue that work with even more

I’m very disappointed. He was called to serve his country and rejected it. I assume because there was not enough stature in it and he could make money in a private setting. In the end, my beloved mayor turned into Mario Cuomo!

SOS is a much more important and visible job than DHS.

The country survived over 200 years without a DHS. Currently we have open boarders and a DHS and can’t publically identify the main threat. We wouldn’t really need a DHS if we would enforce our immigration laws. He knows DHS won’t be shut down by the establishment of both parties. At age 72 would you want a thankless job, where you couldn’t accomplish much, with limited visibility, that didn’t pay well where you were in charge of the current batch of DHS employees?

I like Rudy, a lot, but he’s more valuable doing some things rather than others, and Trump should decide.

Man, I hope Romney doesn’t end up SOS. Trump might as well keep Kerry. He and Romney are just alike.

My 2 cents worth, a skeleton that won’t go away, better to pass than bring down the administration.

Rudy loves what he is doing.
Makes a boatload of money.
A bit too Open Borders/Amnesty for the New Sheriff in Town.
Doesn’t need the accolades.
Is a bit old and sick for 24/7 high powered stuff.

His role is to become Special Prosecutor to go after Her Thighness.

Handcuffs and Orange Jumpsuits for then all.

Too much fussing; too much indecision; too much BS. Rudy doesn't need to put up with that crap...and he probably doesn't want the pay cut, anyway. He would have been a great AG or head of the FBI, but enough is enough. Bye, Bye D.C.

As a master strategist , it’s possible Trump does not want a SoS who would subvert the Presidents dominance in foreign affairs . I imagine Trump is relishing the prospect of turning his vast intellect snd strategic nous to geopolitical affairs

Is Rudy planning on running for POTUS, sometime in the future? He might be separating himself from Donald Trump, just in case things end up going wrong with a Trump presidency.

I’ve always a fantasy where Rudy and I were eating mounds and mounds of various Italian foods and drinking wine straight from the bottle. The bottles were those Chianti type that used to have straw on them.

Then, we’d be drunk and start burping and farting.

Then, we eventually get into a fight, with me winning by stuffing a cannoli down his throat and screaming at him “YOU F***ING JABRONI!!!”
