Trump Expected to Tap Labor Secretary Who Prefers Foreign Labor to American Workers
Brietbart ^ | 12/9/16 | Julia Hahn

Posted on 12/09/2016 3:50:44 AM PST by DoodleDawg

President-elect Donald J. Trump is expected to name as his Labor Secretary fast food executive Andy Puzder, who stands diametrically opposed to Trump’s signature issues on trade and immigration — which won him the election. Puzder is the chief executive of CKE Restaurants, which includes Carl’s Jr. and Hardee’s.

Advocates for American wage-earners say that Puzder as Secretary of Labor is alarming because he will be in charge of enacting policies that directly impact American workers, whom Puzder believes are “unwilling” to do certain jobs. Puzder has suggested that available U.S. jobs should instead be filled by imported foreign labor.

Puzder has even gone so far as to suggest that he prefers foreign laborers to native-born American workers because foreign nationals are more grateful and have a better “attitude.”

“The fact is that there are jobs in this country that U.S. citizens, for whatever reason, are reluctant or unwilling to perform,” he said in a 2013 Politico op-ed in which he advocated for expansionist immigration policies.

As the Washington Post reported, Puzder suggested that flipping burgers is one such job Americans simply won’t do:

“Andrew Puzder, head of the California-based Hardee’s fast-food chain, said his business is a good fit for immigrants because they are willing to start at the bottom and work up…

“Immigrants appreciate what America offers,” Puzder said during a recent visit to Washington to lobby for immigration reform. “They are not taking jobs from Americans, because there are not sufficient Americans applying for jobs. Maybe they feel they have better options.”

Under all organizational theory, whether Machiavelli, Alinsky or the more traditional 7 habits of whomever,

the best way to implement a change in policy is to have someone from the status quo sell the change and not someone who is not trusted by the status quo.

I don’t know this guy. But we shouldn’t jump to conclusions.... just as we shouldn’t jump to conclusions that the guy who appears to be in sync with Trump will succeed at his position.

If a person can bat .300 he is big league. If Trump&Co can bat .300 for 4 years, I would be impressed. Zero is called that because of his batting average.

Mommy and Daddy are struggling to pay their own bills. There is precious little left for Johnny in the basement and Suzie in her bedroom.

His view has nothing to do with ILLEGAL ALIENS

He's a pro amnesty Chamber of Commerce guy. I assume he's for all the welfare program supplements that allow people to work at those low paying jobs as well.

And no, there are NO ####ing jobs some American isn’t willing to do.

Try hiring teenagers to pick up hay out of the fields on a hot Tennessee summer day. :-) I can remember when teenage boys would fight for those summer farm jobs. The last two we hired ended up passed out under a tree while my husband and I finished picking up the hay.

We normally rolled the hay but occasionally did square bales. We finally stopped doing our own hay when we sold our livestock and let the neighbors have it instead. One year a neighbor wanted to do square bales and showed up with a field full of illegal Mexicans. They tossed trash all over our fields and a week later we lost hundreds of dollars in equipment (4-wheeler, chain saws, etc.) After that we refused to let anybody use Mexicans to get up hay and we haven't lost anything else.

First we hire out of work Americans, Veterans still of age to work, then if there is a shortage LEGAL Immigrants who speak ENGLISH and have been screened not just for terrorist ties but health screenings.

NO JOB is beneath you if you don’t have one. I’ve worked some I hated, but needed the pay check. And a Min wage job is a leg up experience to a better job. Learn and grow in a job if you like it. My eldest did the same, went from delivering pizzas to being Manager, and now up for district Manager because he was willing to learn the business from the ground floor up. My youngest gets the highest pay raises from his company as he will learn new machinery, or jobs, and work all the OT they ask of him, and always shows up unless to sick to work. Others get a portion of the raise he gets, as they are to lazy to even perform the job they do have, but because of skin color to hard to fire.

Let's face facts: the "princes of the free market" have sought to reduce costs by "expanding" the first world labor market while still enjoying the benefits of operating under the umbrella of that first world market.

"As labor secretary, his immigration views are irrelevant."

Illegal immigration has a definite impact on the labor force, so I disagree. Many who support illegal immigration use economic arguments in favor of it.

He won’t be making immigration decisions...he’s a successful businessman who knows what it takes to be successful and what hurts or helps one’s ability to be successful. I also don’t care what he thinks about airport security or education.....

Let’s trust Trump on his picks unless actions by a pick prove otherwise, which I assume will play out just fine for the position’s purpose.

(directed in general - not at the poster Sauron)

He is doing the right thing, getting all viewpoints on board. It’s Trump that weighs it and decides at the end. Labor secretary isn’t immigration secretary anyway.

Absolutely.

As a weird example, agribusiness claims that undocumented workers are involved in 70% of our food supply, so illegals are absolutely necessary. Examine the several pernicious underlying assumptions of that claim!

A Labor Secretary constantly issuing pro-illegal or even legal immigration propaganda because the labor force requires them is completely unacceptable.

“...entitlement generation...”

So true that it was the helicopter parents starting in the the 80’s who formed this generation and wrought this upon us!! We have a 19 year daughter who is a hard worker (Hollister) and who was taught that the “I wants” (rewarding bad supermarket wanting everything type behavior starting around 3 years of age) doesn’t work in our family!! She attends college and works during breaks at this point.

Many of her friends are “entitled” and have older siblings who are back home from college and live somewhere in the family home. Our other twenty somethings are: an emergency room nurse, a lawyer, and a model with a BFA in NYC who works a “day job” hostessing at a top NYC restaurant who would not have even considered moving home.

I am not trying to brag - just agreeing and giving a concrete example that the entitlement generation is real and they were NEVER told no as young children and continuing on through and now they can’t deal with the real world.

The play groups of the late 80’s were unattendable - the parents actually thought it was cool to NEVER correct very bad behavior! This can be done calmly and not harshly but they were clueless as parents and this is the generation raised.

A lot of the people who are defending everything Trump is doing were the people who denied that GWB wasn’t a conservative until 2007.
