Denzel Washington blasts media for selling 'BS'
The Hill ^ | 12/06/2016 | Judy Kurtz

He was at the center of a fake news story, but Denzel Washington says it's the mainstream media that's selling "BS."

"If you don't read the newspaper, you're uninformed. If you do read it, you're misinformed," Washington, the star and director behind the new film "Fences," told ITK at the Wednesday premiere inside the National Museum of African American History and Culture. "Fences," based on an award-winning play of the same name, also features Viola Davis and centers on the life of a black family in 1950s Pittsburgh. It is set to be released on Christmas.

“So what a responsibility you all have — to tell the truth,” Washington exclaimed to the pack of reporters gathered on the red carpet.

“In our society, now it’s just first — who cares, get it out there. We don’t care who it hurts. We don’t care who we destroy. We don’t care if it’s true,” Washington continued....

Come on! You can’t hate the media that much and be a dem.

I know he’s starred in quite a few liberal movies but so did James Woods and Jolie’s pop.

Washington has given himself away more than a few times as at LEAST a patriot, again impossible to be a democrat.

That a stolen quote from Twain.

What’s that other saying?

“History may not repeat itself, but it sure does rhyme!”

This movie is based on a play by August Wilson. He died much too soon about 10 years ago and I don’t believe has had any of his plays made into movies until now. There’s an August Wilson Center in Pittsburgh that most likely will get a big boost from this movie considering that it’s being hyped for Oscars.

Which doesn’t alter the fact that Denzel said it again in this century. :)

“If you do read it, you’re misinformed,”

It succeeded with him.

At first read I thought the movie was: “Feces.”

No doubt that Denzel is a liberal or at least leans left. But that does not take away from the truth in his quote.

As a political ideology I disagree with the majority of the liberal left, but I will not say they are all 100% wrong all the time.

Denzel Washington nailed it this time.

It is obvious after this last Presidential Election season the media limped away battered & bruised. Once they recovered they for the most part doubled down. The Democrats as politicians doubled down and put Palosi back in charge.

I like Bruce Springsteen’s music, hate his politics. Doesn’t stop me from listening to Live 75-85.
I like Denzel Washington and Tom Hanks as actors, do not like their politics, but it doesn’t stop me from watching & enjoying most of their movies.

Many in Hollywood need to figure out, smart people are able to separate and enjoy their talents without agreeing to their political views. But if pushed people will avoid their entertainment products.

“Washington has given himself away more than a few times as at LEAST a patriot, again impossible to be a democrat”

IIRC he made a substantial donation to Fisher House Foundation Inc., which operates guest facilities for families with loved ones recuperating in military hospitals a few years ago.

That a stolen quote from Twain.

Only if he claims it as his own.

LOL. That is what I told the local fishwrap when I cancelled my subscription twenty years ago. “I would rather be uninformed than misinformed!”

"If you don't read the newspaper, you're uninformed. If you do read it, you're misinformed," ...
Attributed to Samuel Clemens (Mark Twain)

Good quote, but not original to Denzel.

Denzel, according to a report I read, says he is a Republican and may have voted for Trump.

“...the liberal left, but I will not say they are all 100% wrong all the time.”

That’s the gimmick. Toss in a factual report from time to time and libidiots think that most, if not all, of their reporting is factual. A good ruse to use on the rat followers.

I'll pass on the movie. From wikipedia: Previous attempts to adapt August Wilson's Fences for the screen have been fruitless, partly due to Wilson's insistence on utilizing an African-American director. That's racist IMO.

The movie is about being black in the 50s and how hard it was. Yeah, we get it. We've seen a thousand movies about the whole "black experience" thing back in the day when blacks were oppressed. Movies designed specifically to elicit pity from the audience. Movies like "Mississippi Burning" which even the black community denounced as inaccurate.

Do we really need any more information on the subject? I do not.

He made several comments supportive of Trump during the campaign and I believe he said he was voting for him.

I believe for most of my life the Washington Post has been a liberal paper, but I remember when they actually did a very good job reporting the news. (Even though the Watergate investigation by Woodward and Bernstein was a pure political hatchet job) The editorial page was decidedly left but the news was pretty straight for the most part.

But the idea of a purely objective press in this country is a myth. We never had one and we never will. look at the relationship between Jefferson, Madison and Phillip Freneau. The thing is that usually both sides were represented. There was a democrat paper and a Republican paper in most cities. Now it's all dominated by the left and that's the problem.
