Jeep Fans?

Freeper Husbands!

I am Thinking of Buying a Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Sahara. I like the vehicle, it is big for me, I am moving from my Golf Diesel. Although I have had Xterras and Mazda MPV (Before they ruined its design) previously.

I looked at many new cars and SUV crosses and they all are poorly designed, have lousy visibility and have metal that is so thin it needs to be serviced every few months. I also discovered I need a more butch looking vehicle. All the Suv crossovers look like they were made for Oprah. Teardrop shapes and curves.

I liked the used Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Sahara. It looks durable, I have found a couple of them. Seems as though I am having a difficult time getting the price down below 30K

I cannot quite figure out the Jeep Wrangler choices. Is there a Jeep Wrangler as high and tall as the unlimited but only with 2 doors? All the Wranglers I see with 2 doors are short and look like they belong in a suburb.

Any advice from Freeper Jeep owners appreciated.

Am I making another dumb move here?

I believe the only structural difference between the various models in this regard, is that the higher you go in price/model, the bigger the wheels.

So the reason you are seeing smaller versions, closer to the ground, is that the cheaper versions have smaller wheels.

It is I believe a very good vehicle. Price is the price. It is lower than the competition.

Other viewpoints may be different. :D

Answer: Yes.

Buy yourself a used Toyota FJ (last production year was 2014 - I own one of the last).

A real 4WD.

For what it’s worth, Consumer Reports gives Jeep products a poor rating.

I can’t speak to the current crop of Chrysler cars.

I was a die hard Chrysler guy until I bought a Chrysler LHS in 1996. The transmission went at 73,000 miles, and it was a non-serviceable core type. $3500 to replace the transmission. NEVER AGAIN !!

I have been a Toyota Guy ever since. The run great, are well engineered and DURABLE, and have the best resale value if I decide to sell.

Jeeps are a little overpriced because of their following bot for quality.

Get the FULL hard top so you don't have to worry about break-ins as much. The Arctic edition is DA BOMB!:

I had a new body style 95 Wrangler back in the day. Fun ride but I had a good CD player stolen from it

We bought a one-year old Rubicon Unlimited with about 15,000 miles about 6 years ago for $24,000. Have been offered that same price by numerous dealers to buy it back today. I can’t figure out why the prices stay so high.

over priced...huge amount of inside noise even with hard top....not the most stable vehicle on the road ......but hey you’ll look great driving it and all jeep drivers wave at each other...otherwise I wouldn’t use it for our farm truck. We owned lots of jeeps too....get a Subaru...upside of jeep... good resale valve

Wranglers are one the few useful vehicles left that have manual transmissions. Too bad there is no Turbo-Diesel in the US.

Buy two, so you’ll always have one to drive while the other is in the shop being repaired... and put your mechanic on your 401K plan.

:)

We bought a Jeep Cherokee Crossover last year when we had the baby (had to move from our pickup). We love it. We chose it because it had the seating we needed and was still 4wd and tow package (we haul a small cargo trailer often). Don’t know about the Wrangler, but have had no issues safety or otherwise and would buy a Jeep again.

Buy what you have your heart set on. If you have the budget just get it. You want it and you won’t regret it.

Bought my first Jeep Wrangler 2013 Unlimited Sport Brand New, both hardtop and soft top. Best vehicle I have ever owned, the most fun for sure. I was looking at used too, but they were so close to the price of new, I went for new. Put some wheels and shocks on, no lift, taken it off road and have racked up 94k mostly highway miles. Soft top is a little work, not for lazy people. Yeah its a little noisy, but it doesn’t matter, you’re in a Wrangler! Other Wranglers wave to you, put the top down and enjoy. Don’t listen to the ones that trash them on here. Very reliable, I also have a lifetime warranty that I got through one of the many Wrangler forums. Tons of aftermarket choices, the list goes on and on!
