How an Internet conspiracy theory led a gunman into a DC pizza parlor
Fox News ^

Hillary Clinton’s campaign chairman may have lost his handkerchief on Martha’s Vineyard one day in September 2014 – and two years later that incident has spawned a convoluted conspiracy theory involving a supposed pedophilia ring run out of a Washington, D.C., pizza joint.

How we got from John Podesta’s hankie to claims of a child sex ring – and an armed man arrested Sunday at the pizza parlor attempting to “investigate” the claims – is a disjointed tale that reveals how a toxic Internet story is born, fed and spread without evidence.

Edgar Maddison Welch, a 28-year-old North Carolina man, was arrested Sunday afternoon on a charge of assault with a deadly weapon, after police say he fired his rifle into the floor of the pizza place. No one was hurt, but the incident sent customers running. Welch, who told authorities he went to the establishment to “self-investigate” the sex ring claims, allegedly was spotted looking for rumored tunnels filled with hidden children, a nearby store owner told The Washington Post.

The thing that bothers me the most is that James Alefantes is dating David Brock (of Soros’s Media Matters). You don’t see that in any articles about Pizzagate. I wonder why?

This thing is beyond knowing such that one wonders what is truth? Is the shooter just a crack pot or is he part of the conspiracy? perhaps a feckless pawn used to mock the truth so that one dare pursue it? We topple governments, send multi-national companies to their ruin, but this, no this cannot ever be revealed ...

what this will do is discourage many people from cooperating with legitimate investigative journalists, and give the perps further cover to conduct clandestine child trafficking. the MSM is enabling clandestine child trafficking by reporting pizzagate as “fake” when they have no proof that it is fake.

So did HLN and Fox. Probably MSNBC, too. Too coordinated to be a coincidence and they all talked about the “dangers of fake news”.

One point:

Rumors existed long before the internet existed.

Have you heard about JFK?

“The guy is an actor.”

I’m not sure if he is an actor, but he is looking at ten years in prison.

That takes method acting to quite an extreme.

“The problem with Pizza gate they need a persons name that was a victim of this racket.”

How about they start with some actual evidence?

After that, a name or two would be useful.

Until then, Pizzagate is up there with UFO abductions.

The entire “fake news” theme is ridiculous because it puts the lying mainstream media in charge of deciding what is and is not “fake news”. A true “conspiracy theory” relies upon a Rube Goldberg-like sequence of fantastically unlikely and bizarre connections to reach a crazy (and of course unproven) result. On the other hand, not all speculation is “fake news”. Speculation may not be news at all. Just as opinion is not news. Gosh, who has been blurring these distinctions for so long (hint - the MSM).

So are the “Pizzagate” theories “fake news” or "conspiracy theories"? IDK, but I certainly will not take the Washington Post’s word for it either way.

“Gee, Fox News, I’m not familiar with this story.
How did they get from Point A to Point B? “

The same media rushing headlong last week to declare a ‘shooter’ that ended up with a machete also tells us there is nothing behind Pizzagate.

“You really think he’ll get prison?”

Yes.

He discharged a firearm inside a crowded Washington D.C. pizza parlor.

The gets you prison time for Assault with a Deadly Weapon. Add to that, the fact that there were children there and that he may have violated DC gun laws.

He is going to prison.
