Moon Express is a private company that wants to start offering trips to the moon for £8,000 a ticket.
The company was founded in 2010 by billionaire entrepreneur Naveen Jain and is planning to launch its first unmanned orbital mission next year.
Eventually, it hopes to be sending people to the moon by 2026. So far, Moon Express is the only private company to be granted permission (under US law) to leave Earth and land on the moon. It was given the go-ahead by the US Federal Aviation Administration in August in a move that could open up the space race to new levels.
Moon Express says it will team up with another private company, Elon Musk's SpaceX, to send people there.
"It's very complimentary as a matter of fact
Elon will build the rocket and we do the rover," Jain said...

Uhh... that’s a really good price. It costs about that much to fly on a European airline. Is that U.S. Air? U.S. No Air?
I’d go
$10,0000 for a trip to the moon? Sounds like a deal to me.
I won’t hold my breath.
How much is a “virtual” version?
They either meant £8,000 per pound or lost a few zeroes and it should be £8,000,000. No way they can do it for the price of a first class ticket across the Atlantic.
Is that one-way other RT?
It will cost a lot more than that. Doesn’t sound much like a vacation to me. Walking around outside in a stiff space suit. Confined inside in cramped quarters.
Primitive sanitary facilities.
Just don’t lose your boarding pass when you’re
on the moon.
Will rates peak on Lunar holidays?
If you can’t afford tourist, maybe
there will still be some space left
in Steerage?
Right. GBP 8000 to fly TO the moon... and $10 million for the return trip.
Sounds like a hoax, Investment scam type of thing.
“I wont hold my breath”
Might have to on the moon.
I remember when I saw a Pioneer 46” plasma TV at Difinitive Audio in Bellevue about 25 years ago. It was priced at $25,000.
My comment to the salesman, and it was sincere, “the prices are really coming down on these.”
Wait’ll Graphene gives us space elevators.
Go to Utah. It’s cheaper and has Starbucks.
LOL!
“Waitll Graphene gives us space elevators.”
Whoever gets the muzak franchise for those will make a fortune.
That is a bargain! I’ve spent more that that on plane tickets.
Whoever gets the muzak franchise for those will make a fortune.
And danged funny.
Don't care about Starbucks, but they do have at least eight wineries. I'd retire in Kanab, but my wife has other ideas.
