Rosie O’Donnell is saying sorry -- and locking up her Twitter account.
The outspoken comedian and former “The View” co-host came under fire for sharing a video speculating about whether or not Donald and Melania Trump’s 10-year-old son, Barron, could be autistic.
Shortly before making her Twitter account private on Thursday, O’Donnell wrote a message apologizing to the future First Lady. “I apologize to @MELANIATRUMP - i was insensitive in my RT - i am sorry for the pain i caused - it was not my intent - i am truly sorry,” O’Donnell wrote.
The YouTube user who posted the original video also released an apology Thursday after taking down the clip.
“It was incredibly irresponsible of me to diagnose Barron Trump using a selection of misleading videos,” the YouTuber said in a statement to TMZ. “I falsely correlated him trying to stay awake and occasionally doing quirky things, with him suffering from autism.”

I think I read someplace that Donald had encouraged Melania to start a lawsuit in reaction to Rosie’s latest tirade. If this happened, I presume it would be for invasion of privacy on behalf of Barron (provable!), defamation of character (iffy) or slander (still iffy).

I am in no way a fan of Rosie O’Donnel, but I will give her credit for this. I think it was a decent thing to do.
Maybe a step in the right direction for her. It’s a start and we all have to start somewhere.
